Of course this is never set in stone, but based on previous weather averages in Silverton in July and current weather projections, the high will be in the low 70s and in the 40s in the evenings. It is usually sunny during the day, with quick afternoon showers not uncommon. There are some outdoor heaters at the venue, and we'll have a few cozy blankets, but please bring a shawl or sweater for the evening. https://weatherspark.com/m/3206/7/Average-Weather-in-July-in-Silverton-Colorado-United-States
Durango is at 6,612 feet above sea level, and Eureka Lodge is at about 10,000 feet. Most people do just fine, but please do drink a lot of water (it really helps!), pace yourself when walking or exercising, and take it easy on alcoholic drinks. Alcohol hits much harder with less oxygen in your bloodstream, so think of drinks as having a two for one punch! ;)
The drive from downtown Durango to the venue, Eureka Lodge, will take about 1.5 hours. The 48 miles from Durango to Silverton typically takes just over an hour. Though the road is very well maintained, we recommend taking your time. There are two mountain passes and an elevation gain of about 3,000 feet. There are many switchbacks and few guardrails. The drive from Silverton to Eureka is mostly on a gravel/dirt road through the valley, and though easy, does take attention. You will love the 360 views!
The dress code is semi-formal/cocktail. We are hoping for you to dress and feel 'fancy' for the occasion, but not too uncomfortable! We are in the mountains, so it can be chilly in the evening; the ceremony and reception are outside, so you may want to bring a sweater, shawl, or scarf.
As soon as feasible! We hope to spend more time with you than just the day/night of the wedding. As many of you are traveling a long way, it'd be great to take full advantage. We do recommend you arrive at least a couple of days before the wedding so that you can get acclimated to the elevation in Durango (6,512 feet) before heading up to Eureka Lodge, which is nearly 10,000 feet above sea level. Most people do just fine with elevation (especially if you take it easy on alcohol for the first couple of days), but it's not a bad idea to give yourself a little extra time to adjust just in case.
