Old Apple Warehouse
This is the place to be in Kettle Falls. Which maybe means we live in a boring place or that the Old Apple Warehouse is just awesome. If you hang out here long enough I'm pretty sure everyone who lives in Kettle will be in. This is an antique store that is also a coffee shop. The antique store is always fun to peruse as the owners take a lot of time to make it interesting visually. And the coffee here is in my opinion the best coffee in the whole wide world and I am not at all biased because I worked for the family for six years. If you have a sweet tooth there is also phenomenal bakery. Try the Poptart or the cinnamon roll.
St Pauls Mission
St. Paul's Mission has a ton of historical significance for the area! Prior to the building of the Grand Coulee Dam the mission overlooked a historically very important Native fishing site and Fort Colville. The Kettle Falls were one of the largest Native salmon fishing sites in the country. Then the Dam was built and no more salmon fishing. Regardless of the consequences of this, the Mission is a fun place to visit as it allows you to explore the History of the area through informative signs. Its also really pretty and as a kid I thought it was awesome to explore!
Little Gallea
This is the best breakfast place in town. Dad and I went there enough growing up that they didn't even have to ask our orders.
Old Kettle Falls Picnic Area
We’ve been going to this park for longer than I can remember. While some of the playground features deemed too dangerous (we were just tougher back then) have been removed it’s still a fun place to go with kids. It’s also a great place to go for a walk as there are several trails. The trails literally go over the river and through the woods! If you decide to walk down here you can picture young Claire running here while listening to probably very angsty music.
Bradbury Day Use Area
This wouldn’t be an appropriate list of things to do in Kettle Falls if I didn’t include at least one beach. There are beaches all along this stretch of the Columbia River and in June they should be big, beautiful, and for the most part fairly empty. It’s a wonderful place to take a walk, build a sandcastle, have a picnic, or go swimming although the swimming might be dependent on your cold tolerance.
Log Flume Interpretive Trail
This one mile nature trail follows Sherman Creek and is always a wonderful place for a stroll. Depending on which side you start it either stops or ends with the worlds most overkill footbridge—which incidentally replaced the bridge shown in the picture above. Depending on the time of year, so in June its a toss up, it can be a fun place to play in a creek!
Republic Brewing Company
Odds are you won’t have time to make the drive over the pass but if you do it’s phenomenally beautiful and dumps you into the little town of Republic. Republic happens to be where I ran EMS and so it’s near and dear to my heart. The brewery itself is just a wonderful experience. The fire chief runs the brewery and if beer isn’t your thing he also makes craft sodas which are excellent and great to drink if hypothetically you were on call for EMS. During the summer the brewery has a garage door that opens up onto Main Street. There are also cribbage boards—which Chris and I have tried out a time or two.
