Things To Do

I wanted to share some activities and excursions in the area in case you’d like to get out and explore Puerto Morelos, Cancun, or other parts of Mexico during your stay. I’ll list excursions I’ve personally been on, along with other reputable options I found online. The Dreams Riviera Resort also partners with Amstar, and they offer several great excursions that can be booked directly through the resort. Reminder: If you have small children or need extra assistance, please check the age and accessibility recommendations on any tours you plan to take. Also — don’t forget to bring your own towels!

Cancun Snorkeling Tour

My mom and I went on the snorkeling excursion through this website, and they took us directly to the boat and got us set up right away. It was a beautiful snorkeling tour, though a bit cold since we went in January. This excursion is not recommended for children under 6 or for anyone who may need extra assistance getting on or off the boat. After leaving the dock, we were able to roam around and shop nearby — there are plenty of tourist shops, bars, and restaurants to explore. Overall, it was a great quick experience and something to consider if you enjoy being out on the water!

Catamaran Isla Mujeres Tour

I haven’t personally been on this excursion, but it’s offered by the same company that ran the snorkeling tour my mom and I did in January 2026. Since our experience with them was excellent, I think this could be a reputable option to consider. This information is provided by the excursion website: On your way to Isla Mujeres, the first stop allows you to snorkel at the Cancun Underwater Museum (MUSA) — an incredible experience where human creativity meets the seabed. You’ll see underwater sculptures slowly being claimed by nature as corals and marine life merge with the artwork, and you’ll get to admire the various marine species swimming around you during the snorkeling tour. Once on the island, you’ll disembark at a beach club where a buffet lunch will be served. You’ll also have some spare time to explore Isla Mujeres downtown. On the way back, the party continues with a national open bar included — so you can enjoy the ride back as much as the adventure itself!

Cenotes and Paradise Lagoon Snorkeling Adventure

Chris and I went on this excursion, and it was a lot of fun! The only downside was that transportation wasn’t direct — we had to pick up a few other people along the way, transfer to a different van with our tour guides, and then continue on. It made the trip down toward Tulum a bit more time-consuming. We visited a private cenote deep in the jungle, followed by snorkeling in Yalku Lagoon — both were absolutely beautiful. Bring your own towels, as they are not provided, but snacks and water are included. Overall, it’s a fantastic day if you don’t mind a bit of extra travel time for the adventure!
