After going to the same middle and high schools, we always 'knew of' each other, but our paths never officially crossed. Fast forward a few years to a golf tournament fundraiser where Christine was behind the check-in desk only to look up and think "Wow, look who grew up" when Jake walked in, and, sources say, he had the same thought when seeing Christine. Just like that, a spark was ignited. Golf tournament after golf tournament, year after year, all we had were those passing moments, but the spark was still there. After missing one year, Jake reached out to Christine with the line "You know, we never got that cup of coffee we talked about." (little secret...we never talked about getting coffee before). And with that, all those years of school, all the little golf tournament moments, and finally after a cup of coffee, that spark turned into our forever.
We took a long weekend trip to Jakes Uncle's farm, Douberly Farms, since Jake would always tell stories about trips 'to the farm', reminisce all the memories he made there, and how it was one of his favorite places. So, Jake took Christine the 'girly-girl' up to the farm with the cows and mud where we were both excited for the change of scenery! On our second day it was truly picture perfect throughout. We had lunch at a local diner with the best sweet tea, rode around the property (where Christine may or may not have gotten Jake's truck stuck in the mud), and got some target practice in before the sun started to set. As it was getting to be about that time, we were making our way to the field where Jake originally planned to pop the question. But after some exploring, we came across a little inlet that even Jake had never seen or been to before! A lake was to our right with a rustic boat house in the distance, a big, old, beautiful oak tree to our left, and a crystal clear sky above. It was our spot. At that moment, Jake made the decision to do it there and then, in our spot, as the sun was setting. And with the cows, mud, boots and all- it couldn't have been more perfect!
