In lieu of gifts, we are asking for donations for the Annual Kondwani Memorial Youth Tennis Tournament. This tournament was founded by Anthony in memory of a youth player he coached who passed away 2 years ago. Last year was the first tournament and we had close to 50 kids participate. Every child got a meal and back to school supplies. Our goal is to make this an annual event.
"Sports are a refuge in Malawi. Tennis is a source of self confidence, a distraction from bad influences, and a strong community that supports players young and old in times of trouble. Kondwani Phiri was a youth tennis player who lost his life last year, this tennis tournament was a celebration of his life. With out the tennis community, it would have been impossible for the late Kondwani to be laid to rest in his home country and for his mother to find comfort in this painful anniversary"
