We are so grateful for you, present or not!

We completely understand any hesitations you may have about attending a wedding during a global pandemic, in fact, we may not even show up ourselves. In order to minimize risk, we are following the state's guidelines by limiting the number of guests who will be able to attend in person as well as maximizing social distancing. Masks and sanitizer will be available, and we ask that everybody wear a mask when not eating. We will be updating our page as well as adapting precautions as necessitated by any new COVID-19 information. Your safety and comfort are our biggest priorities, and we appreciate your support from wherever you are.

Our Story: Beginnings

Somewhere, sometime in 2013

For all the memories we have shared together, there is none more elusive than that quietly unassuming first encounter. In 2013, we were both seniors at Issaquah High School and had accomplished the curious feat of having never crossed paths for the last three years. That streak would be interrupted by both an English class and a Psychology class, though it is at this point that the timelines start to lose clarity. All that remain are impressions and words, and a pleasant exchange of our favorite bands (the Strokes meet Jimmy Eat World), which eventually found us going to prom together. At this point, you may be tempted to call us a high school couple, but the reality is that we started dating just one day before college started, so in fact, we ourselves don't know what to call it. All that can be said is that the summer between high school and college was freely spent eating ice cream, trading music, and watching ferries pass us by from our spot on the beach.

Present, Future

aboard a ferry, on the puget sound, in 2020

In the years passed since high school, we have held dear the idea that our past memories still exist in the places they were formed. For that reason, it only seemed appropriate that we should be engaged aboard the ferries we spent so much time watching together--as if our past selves could watch their future selves get engaged. Mitchell asked his brother Matt to take a day off of work with the promise of food as compensation, and posted him on the ferry in order to capture the proposal. Armed with a disposable camera, Matt photographed the entire proposal, which passed by in such a blur that we forgot to take a photo of the two of us where the wind was having its way with our hair. Maybe another ferry ride is in order.
