Milwaukee's Santiago Calatrava-designed art museum right on Lake Michigan, featuring its famous brise soleil. If you want to watch the brise soleil (the "wings" on the Quadracci Pavilion) open and/or close check it out at the following times: Tuesday-Sunday at at 10am they open, they then close and reopen at noon, and close again at 5pm (exception is Thursday when they close at 8pm). Great to visit just to enjoy the view and architecture, but is amazing inside as well and contains almost 25,000 works of art.
MKE's newest entertainment plaza adjacent to the brand new Fiserv Forum, home of the Bucks & Marquette Golden Eagles. Multiple places to stop for food and drinks - either hang outside with a massive screen in the beer garden (where a few of our engagement pics were taken), or hang inside with a massive screen at Mecca Sports Bar & Grill. If you're looking for a more interesting drink selection hit up Good City Brewing or Drink Wisconsinbly
One of our absolute favorite places (have been more times than we can count)! - nothing fancy, but great German food, bier, and atmosphere. Toss back a liter, grab a few friends and do a shot-ski of Jager, play hammerschlagen, or kiss the alpine goat!
Old German Beer Hall too low brau for you? (see what I did there?) Then head just up the block on Old World Third to Mader's. Opened in 1902, Mader's is a classic Milwaukee location that personifies the city's German heritage. A bit more upscale food and drink offerings, with a really ornately designed bar that has a good selection of German biers. They also now have an outdoor "Deer Garden" for outdoor drinking/dining where our awesome liter boot engagement pictures were taken!
Short on time or just want to try a little bit from multiple local Milwaukee places? Stop at the Public Market! They feature a bunch of vendors that offer seafood, chocolate, coffee, wine, beer, cheese, apparel, you name it! Our personal fav is On The Bus - a plant-based on-the-go style restaurant, and of course Brew City Brand always has some quirky MKE-themed stuff to check out. The Hop - Milwaukee's streetcar - also stops right in front of the market and can be used to get you elsewhere downtown
An awesome outdoor food truck park in Walker's Point, that Christina and I have visited a ton since they opened in 2019. It also features the truck that makes my favorite tacos - Mazorca Tacos (get the al pastor!). Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Food trucks rotate occasionally, so check their website or social pages for the current lineup
One of the best new-ish Milwaukee craft breweries in our opinion, and just a quick jaunt over the 6th St viaduct bridge from our wedding venue! Mobcraft is known for it's outlandish beer styles and it's original platform where it existed online by having people suggest beers to brew and then vote on those, a new winning beer picked and brewed each month. Tons of indoor and outdoor seating. Have always had a great beertender here!
An amazing French inspired bakery in Walker's Point, and the maker of, what I'm positive will be amazing, desserts at our wedding! A bunch of baked good options, coffee, tea, wine, cocktails, and of course macarons! Say hi to Jess & Miranda for us!
Christina's obviously a massive chocolate fan and this is her favorite local place to get it. They specialize in truffles and doing specialty pairings like chocolates with wine, beer, cheese, and cocktails. Definitely try the Milwaukee Chocolate Bar!
Our go-to place for a walk, with a nice lake breeze and great views of the bay and downtown. Walk through to Bay View Park, get close (but not too close) to the FBI building, and then head back to the beer garden for a cold one!
One of my top places to eat in Milwaukee - no one does sausage like Vanguard. They have a bunch of creative and delicious sausage concoctions as well as appetizers and drinks. Very good late night of drinking food, but also fantastic anytime food! Personal fav is the Thai Breaker!
