Flight
There are several boat options to choose from when traveling from the mainland to Martha's Vineyard: The Steamship Authority Operating out of Woods Hole, this 45 minute boat ride will drop off at either Vineyard Haven or Oak Bluffs. This is the only ferry that allows car reservations, which must be booked as far in advance as possible (we suggest booking early 2025-- feel free to reach out to Christina for help with this!). Walk-on tickets for individuals can also be purchased in advance but are typically available until the boat begins to board. We suggest taking the Steamship Authority, if flying into Logan Airport. There are several buses between Logan Airport and the Woods Hole Ferry Port. New Bedford SeaStreak Ferry A 1-hour ride, this boat departs from New Bedford, MA and drops off in Oak Bluffs. This ferry only offers single passenger tickets, not car reservations. Overnight parking is available near at the dock. Walk-on tickets are allowed, however we suggest booking the ferry tickets in advance. The Island Queen Ferry A 35-minute ride, this boat departs from Falmouth, MA and drops off in Oak Buffs. This ferry only offers single passenger tickets, not car reservations. Overnight parking is available near the dock in Falmouth. Walk-on tickets are allowed, however we suggest booking the ferry tickets in advance. Hy-Line Cruises If traveling from the Cape without a car, we recommend the Hy-Line ferry from Hyannis to Oak Bluffs. The Seastreak Ferry A 4-hour boat from NYC and drops off in Oak Buffs. This ferry only offers single passenger tickets, no car reservations. Walk-on tickets are allowed, however we suggest booking the ferry tickets in advance.
Travel Note
If you are flying into Boston, MA or Providence, RI and prefer to take a ferry to MV, there will be additional ground travel required. In short, follow the below steps: 1) Fly into Logan International Airport in Boston, MA or T.F. Greene International in Providence, RI. 2) From Logan, book a Peter Pan Bus, Uber (!), Rental, or Private Car to Woods Hole. From T.F. Greene, take a 30-45 minute Uber to New Bedford. 3) From Woods Hole, take the Steamship Authority ferry to Vineyard Haven or Oak Bluffs (see info under 'Ferry' above). From New Bedford, take the SeaStreak ferry to Oak Bluffs (see info under 'Ferry' above). 4) If you are traveling without a car, you can grab an Uber or taxi at the ferry terminal on Martha's Vineyard to your accommodations, or the VTA (MV bus system). Tickets for the VTA may be purchased on board, and you can purchase tickets for the whole weekend.
Travel Note
If you are looking to rent a car on the main land, we recommend renting at Logan Airport and driving to Wood's Hole. You will still be able to make a car reservation with the Steamship Authority with a rental car. Please let us know if you have any questions. If you are looking to rent a car on the island, our coordinators at Lambert's Cove are more than happy to work with you. Please reach out to Christina or John.
Travel Note
If you made it this far, we love you. Once you're on the island, transportation will be provided for our wedding events, but we really hope you explore and take advantage of the island! Most people get around on bikes which you can rent at either of the ferry ports, take the VTA, Uber, or walk.
