If you've got an extra day, and have never been, Newport is a must visit. Take a 45 minute trip and drive across the stunning Newport Bridge for breathtaking views of the Narragansett Bay. Once in downtown Newport, you'll find plenty of great seafood, shops, beaches, and sites to see! Head down Bellevue Ave to see how the Vanderbilt's (and other 19th/ 20th century wealthy families) spent their summer. Tours of the mansions are also available - The Breakers and Marble House are a must see. Walk along the shore for the breath-taking views of the mansions and shoreline on the Newport Cliff Walk... but don't attempt in flip flops, it's not fun! Take in the sun at one of the several beaches in the Newport area as well!
Live like a real guinea on Federal Hill, the once epicenter of organized crime. Don't worry.. they've taken their guns, but left the cannolis!! (if you don't get the reference, we may be questioning how you're invited..) Filled with historic homes, great restaurants, and coffee shops; Providence is definitely worth the 20 minute trip from Smithfield to check out. Walk off some of those wedding apps at Roger Williams Park or visit the Roger Williams Zoo!
This is our go-to spot to meet with friends! Right next to the hotel.... it's an awesome place to grab dinner, a drink, or one of their amazing home-made desserts. Christina goes for the taco salad every time & Ethan prefers to mix it up. Highly recommend!
