It wasn’t until much later in our relationship that we realized Daylan actually moved to Austin, TX on my birthday - April 20th! Obviously, the best birthday present ever, and clearly we were meant to be. :) After 30 years of living in California, Daylan decided it was time to venture out and move to Austin from Venice Beach in the pursuit of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. LOL when I first met Daylan, he was very transparent about his priorities - 1. Get a dog. 2. Get a Jeep and 3. Buy a house. Everything except the Jeep happened and more. Daylan and I met through a dating app called Hinge. I was drawn to his happy face and his love for activities. So after some banter, selfies from our travels, and persistent follow-ups from Daylan, we met in person at Tillery for an early dinner. When I showed up, I remember smelling like a dog (I had gotten a ride from my work friend and his pup that rode shotgun with me) - at that point, I was thinking, well I hope he’s a dog person! Fast forward a bit, we fell in love with the most handsome corgi in the whole world. MANDO! After our first dinner date, he invited me to watch his kickball game. Little did he know, I’m not the type that typically “watches” but I decided to go and check out his skills anyway. Fortunately for him, he was great. Fortunately for me, I used to play with his teammate and he sang my praises so I willingly decided to suit up and play with them. Much more fun! Afterward, we all had a laugh at Lustre Pearl East - played corn hole, ping pong, sipped on some tequila, and the rest is history.
