Eat, Drink, & Hike

The Wedding Website of Christina Oddo and Anthony Secord
Below are a few of our favorite restaurants, bars, and outdoor areas (and a mountain town suggestion for Friday morning!). Note: If you choose to explore the outdoors, please remember that hiking in Colorado is very different from hiking in the Midwest! Good footwear and a hat are essential; don't set out without sunscreen, water, and electrolytes; and be aware of natural hazards like loose footing and wild animals (rattlesnakes and bears are the most common).
Question

Question

Where are some good local places to hike/explore the outdoors?

Answer

The vast majority of nearby hikes offer free parking and easy trailhead access, and we highly recommend downloading the AllTrails app- it allows you to see preview photos of all the trails in your area and grades them as easy, moderate, or hard. Some our favorite spots are: -Bluebell & Baird Trail at Chautauqua Park -Gregory Canyon Trailhead at Chautauqua Park -Boulder Canyon Trail (paved trail; imagine the Naperville Riverwalk if someone dumped it in the middle of the mountains)

Question

Looking for an easy trip further into the mountains?

Answer

If you're renting a car and you're in the mood to check out a nearby mountain town, Nederland is an amazing option. It's only 32 minutes from downtown Boulder and the drive alone is worth it (and there are some great hikes along the way on 119). If you're going in the morning, our favorite spots are New Moon Bakery (coffee, sweet breakfast treats) and Decent Bagel (they undersell themselves and should be called Delicious Bagel). If you're going around lunch or dinner time, we recommend Crosscut Pizza or Kathmandu (Indian/Nepali food)! Please note that if you continue driving northwest past Nederland, you'll get even more incredible mountain views... and absolutely zero cell service. Plan accordingly and don't get lost (or get lost on Saturday so you don't miss our wedding)!
