Get your boots on! The Honky Tonk bars on Broadway are Nashville’s most entertaining site. The beer and the Wild Turkey are flowing, live music is playing in every bar, and this place is just pure fun. Our favorites were Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, Robert’s Western World, The Stage, and the Big Bang Dueling Piano Bar.
Climb aboard this 19-century 300-foot riverboat and take in concerts and shows, feast in one of the multiple dining rooms, ramble around the four decks…all while taking in the lovely Cumberland River scenery. There are daytime cruises that might be more suitable for younger kids timing-wise, plus there are often comedic puppet shows to delight little ones. Older kids will likely enjoy it any of the grand shows.
While this isn't exactly a park, the Pedestrian Bridge has one of the best views of the Nashville skyline, making it the perfect spot for a photo opp! Catch a glimpse of it by night to see how stunning it looks aglow with lights.
“Honor Thy Music” is the museum’s credo. And that means past, present and future. On display, there’s everything from Hank Williams’ guitar to Elvis’s gold Cadillac to Taylor Swift’s latest stage wear. Plus a two-story wall of every gold and platinum country record ever, educational movies, live music and seminars. And as part of the grand tour, you’ll visit the fabled RCA Studio B, where hits like Roy Orbison’s “Pretty Woman” and Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You” were recorded.
No trip to Nashville would be complete without experiencing the radio show that “made country music famous.” Since 1925, the Opry has been mixing music, comedy skits and live commercials into its down-home Saturday night broadcast. Today, it features contemporary artists like Alan Jackson and Brad Paisley sharing the bill with such legends as Connie Smith, Stonewall Jackson and Little Jimmie Dickens (at 92, the oldest living Opry star).
The home of the Opry for over thirty years, this beautiful historic venue still hosts some of the biggest names in music. You can tour the venue during the day and learn the history of the place. Or keep an eye out for what shows are playing during your visit and grab a ticket. Even some of the smaller shows they host are worth a chance to see a performance in this historic venue.
