We were both working at JCPenney. No one was at the store because everyone was watching the game. China was so bored that she decided to talk to the closest living thing around... That living thing happened to be a quiet David who was busy fixing the light fixture nearby. They talked about the game and casually conversed not knowing this would be the start of a wonderful journey of love, growth and happiness.
They no longer worked together at JCPenney. David had moved on to work for Albertsons while China was almost finished at Penneys. A friendship had grown though and both had developed feelings for one another. After some time David mustered the courage to ask China to be his girlfriend. He went to the store and bought a dozen red roses and drove to Penneys and told China to meet him in the parking lot. China unexpectedly was greeted with roses and a question, “will you go out with me?” “Of course, yes!” she said!
Let's take the dogs for a walk tomorrow morning, he said. Nothing out of the ordinary it seemed. Just another nice trip with the doggos for a walk down town! David was acting weird once we arrived, insisting we walk over to this tiny covered seating area close to the water. After fiddling through his bag checking for “dog supplies” he told China to go get the water bowl back in the car as he had fogotten it. Strange it seemed to China as they rarely used a water bowl on this walk as it is rather short. Nevertheless, she obliged. As she walked back, the dogs had some new attire that David must’ve put on them. As she got closer, she could see the excitement and nervous look on David’s face, as if he was about to ask…. She got close, he had her read the dogs’ new bandanas… “Mom, will you marry my Dad?” read the one, “Please say yes!” read the other. With tears flowing, a few seconds passed to process that this moment was indeed happening… She said “YES!!!” and the dogs, China and David celebrated!
