We are finally doing the dang thing!

After Alexis received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2015, she decided to begin her career doing travel PT contracts. While this took her to Alaska and Hawaii, she couldn't help but do a couple rotations close to home and family in El Paso. Christian, who had grown up and lived in El Paso all his life, knew Alexis' cousin Katie since they were 4 years old. After hearing of this awesome cousin of hers and seeing a few photos, he was determined to meet her. He made multiple failed attempts to set up a get together, and even found Alexis on a dating website called Bumble. While Alexis does not recall this, Christian claims he swiped right and even "super liked" Alexis' profile. Sadly to no avail, Alexis swiped left. Before Christian knew it, she was off to Kauai, Hawaii in 2017 for another travel contract. Later that year, Alexis spontaneously decided to come back for yet another travel contract in El Paso. Here she decided to lay down some temporary roots, or so she thought, and put a lease on a house. She was then offered a full-time Supervisor position at a local hospital at the start of 2018, which she accepted. Christian knew he needed to finally make it happen. So when his best friend Andre was set to marry his beautiful bride Stephanie on April 21, 2018, Christian thought this was the perfect opportunity to ask Alexis to be his plus one. Christian reached out to Katie to get her cousin’s phone number, so Katie texted Alexis a simple question that would change her life forever..."How do you feel about a blind date?" Alexis, excited at the idea responded, "Sure with who?". When Katie told her it was Christian, she said "C'mon the infamous Christian. Is this really going to happen?" It had not only felt like, but it had been over 2 and half years since they had first heard of each other. Intrigued and excited, they set up their first phone date a few days prior to the wedding. They found themselves talking for over an hour and finalizing details for Christian to pick up Alexis that coming Saturday. Alexis always joked that if she wanted to find the right man for her, she needed to get out there more. She said at multiple occasions, "God isn't just going to deliver him to your doorstep.” But that is exactly what God did on April 21, 2018. Christian came knocking at the front door and after much anticipation, the two met for the very first time. Little did they know, that blind date request to be Christian's plus one ended up being a forever kind of deal. Alexis and Christian hit it off all night and even Alexis made the first move with a passionate kiss delivered on the dance floor. Two days later, Alexis was already meeting Christian's son, Levi. By May 10, they decided to make it official and go steady. And now after almost 5 years of all the beautiful ups and downs, the two have built a strong and lasting foundation. Every day they work to keep God at their center, for it was through his divine timing and divine intervention that were destined to meet. On September 9, 2023 they will vow to be each other's Forever Plus One and they could not be more excited to have each of you share in their special day.
