Our Wedding

We are so excited to celebrate with you at our wedding! Please don't miss the "Travel" section, as it gives important information about parking and locations of shuttle pickups for our wedding, as well as recommended hotels/Airbnb's. ***IMPORTANT SHUTTLE INFORMATION*** The first bus pickup will be at 3:00pm at the hotel pickup location first, then The Chapel. Last bus pickup before the wedding will be at 3:45pm, in the same rotation. If you think you may be running late, we have someone who can come pick you up after that last bus time, just ask us for their phone number. During the reception, we will have a 15-passenger van that can take you back to the hotel/your car as you're ready to leave; it will also be making trips to the after-party and back to hotels/cars at the end of the night. Be sure to check out all of the other tabs to see wedding details, location, registry info, things to do in the area, and more! And most of all, be prepared to dance! If you know us, you know we love to dance and have a good time, so we expect to see you out on that dance floor all night!

Our Story

It all started with Ironman...

Alex and Jon first met in 2017, after a few weeks of Alex's mom telling her "there's this cute guy I work with, I think you'll like him! He'll be in town for the triathlon, you guys should hang out!" (Alex's dad was telling Jon all about her too, since the three all work together for Ironman). Alex rolled her eyes, not thinking much of it; the triathlon rolled around, and mom and dad brought him into the brewery she worked at to meet her. They both aren't one to believe in love at first sight, but the minute he walked into the brewery, Alex and Jon both knew that the person standing in front of them was someone special. Once the initial shyness wore off, they were laughing and talking over beers in no time. They got to know each other over the course of the week, and were surprised at just how easy it was to talk to each other and and to laugh together. Toward the end of the week, Alex flopped down on her parents' couch and said to them "I'm in trouble with this one." As fate would have it, however, 3 years would pass before life brought them together again; they stayed friends, but both Alex and Jon had some life to figure out before they were ready for each other. Thankfully, those 3 years went by fast. Mid-summer 2020, Jon was planning to visit friends in Grand Rapids; when those plans fell through, he reached out to Alex to say that he was disappointed about his plans. Alex (who was hopeful that they would rekindle all along) offered up visiting her parents as a substitute. Jon (also hopeful) agreed, and plans were set. Again, the recognition that they were special to each other hit Jon and Alex; but this time, they weren't about to let each other go. At the end of his weekend stay, when it was just the two of them awake at her parents house, Alex took the leap. She told Jon how she still felt about him after those years, and how she couldn't let him go without trying to see where a relationship could take them. She was shaking the whole time! All her fears were eased when he smiled at Alex and said "I feel the same way about you. I can't let you get away again." And as they swayed around the kitchen to non-existent music in each other's arms later, they knew they wouldn't let each other go. And they haven't let each other go since. Alex and Jon were in a long-distance relationship for about a year and a half, with Jon driving to Michigan and Alex flying to Tennessee as often as they could to see each other. When they weren't visiting, they were on many late-night phone calls (some until 4 in the morning), just getting to know one another and talking about every topic under the sun. Alex moved down to Chattanooga in December of 2021, finally closing the distance; the move couldn't have been better, and they have been spending the time since the move exploring Chattanooga, getting to know each other even more, and STILL staying up too late talking. On June 21st, 2022, when they were up visiting Alex's family, Alex and Jon planned to walk up a sand dune to see the sunrise and go to breakfast afterward. Nothing went to plan at first; the park they originally wanted to go to was closed, and as they would come to find out, so was the diner. They ended up at the beach that Alex grew up on, and Jon pointed out a secluded spot they could sit at. Alex thought this was weird because they couldn't see the sun at all (she had no idea a proposal was coming). Jon eventually said "it's okay that we can't see the sun, this day was all about you anyway. I'm usually so full of words and so talkative, but I don't really know what to say right now. So I'll just say this." And he pulled out the most perfect ring, got down on one knee, and said "will you spend the longest day of the year and every day after that with me?" Of course, Alex said yes, after the shock wore off. And of course, there are a ton more details, and it's their favorite story to tell, so be sure to ask Jon and Alex about their proposal/the week leading up to it.

For all the days along the way
