Finally Ever After

Joe’s View: We met on bumble, a dating app similar to the “turnabout” dance in high school where the girl gets to ask the boy out. Who knew I would be found by the perfect woman for me. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with my soon-to-be Mrs. Hendricks❤️ Angela’s View: Some say love at first sight doesn’t exist— I beg to differ. After spending weeks playing 20 questions back and forth through the Bumble app, we finally decided to take a chance and go out on a date. On November 18, 2017 we met up for a drink at a local bar. When I walked in and looked around I knew my fate was sealed when I noticed Joe was playing cards by himself at the bar. I know that seems odd but as many of you know, I don’t travel anywhere without a deck of cards with me. That night we spent over two hours playing different card games while laughing and mutually feeling like we knew eachother our whole lives. We spent two years commuting back and forth, spending time together whenever we had a spare moment. Right before COVID hit in March of 2020, we moved into our condo together and later adopted two beautiful kittens. Three years later we took our little family across the Wisconsin border and are now Illinois residents (a big change Joe is still trying to come to terms with, but he REFUSES to support IL sports teams). I continue to be reminded that Joe is the man for me in the way that he is silly with me, the way he takes care of me when I’m hurting, and the love he shows my family and friends. He is my best friend and my truest ally. He is my home.
