Christen's Account: Micah had been staring at my Hinge (online dating app) photo for days, waiting for me to reach out. Figuring he was too shy to initiate conversation, I sent him a casual text: 'sup. This is the 21st century after all... Micah's Account: I had been on the app for maybe a minute before I received a very enthusiastic text from Christen: "Hi Micah!" (prominent focus on the exclamation point). It was obvious that my careful selection of profile photos had wooed her. There was very little left for me to do. Our Account: The week leading up to our first date, we both had the sense that there was something unique about the immediate connection. We were equally nervous to meet the other - to see if the person we had conjured in our minds would live up to reality. From the world's worst first-date kiss, fast forward 5 years, we've overcome loss and personal challenges, fostering a stronger love and more formidable bond. We've lived in three states, traveled the world, ate and drank our fair share of culture, and defined a new meaning of 'home.' We dance a lot, laugh more, share the saddest/happiest dog stories on Instagram, and order an obscene amount of takeout. We feel fortunate and blessed to have found one another and for the support our families and friends have shown us over the years. We couldn't be more thrilled for this new chapter ahead. Let's do this!
