This is Us

From Haiti to Boston to forever

We’ve come to accept that our relationship is a love story with a layered beginning. We saw each other in passing back in Haiti, built small but meaningful memories while living in Boston, and somehow kept a quiet connection through our teenage years and into early adulthood. There were so many places we could choose as our “start,” but one moment rises above the rest. The beginning we’ve chosen to honor is the one that unfolded in 2020. For many, that year felt heavy with fear and uncertainty, but for us it opened into a season of love and adventure. After a night out dancing together at the club, we both left with the same unspoken feeling—and, honestly, some very good dreams about each other. Neither of us thought to act on it. We lived 226 miles apart, and it didn’t seem like the right time to spark anything new. But fate stepped in differently. When the pandemic forced students to move back home, the chaos of that moment ended up pulling us into the same orbit…almost the way a love story is quietly nudged into motion. Our first date was simple but unforgettable. With most places closed, choices were limited—and since neither of us really knew what dating was supposed to look like, Domino’s seemed like a perfectly good plan. Carson Beach set the scene that night: warm air, calm water, and a sky full of stars. What was supposed to be a casual late-night picnic turned into something that felt easy, natural, and real. It was the kind of moment that shows its meaning in hindsight. As of today (December 1st, 2025), we’ve spent 5 years and 8 months growing alongside each other. Our bond became so strong early on that people loved to remind us we were still in the “honeymoon phase.” Yet here we are, years later, still enjoying each other just as much—maybe even more. This journey has shaped us in ways we didn’t expect. It’s taught us patience, partnership, and what it means to love someone through change. And through it all, we’ve continued choosing each other, again and again.
