General Information about Puerto Vallarta (PVR)

Puerto Vallarta is a beach resort city on the Mexican Riviera in the State of Jalisco (pronounced hah-lees-ko). Adjacent to Puerto Vallarta is Nuevo Vallarta (known as Nuevo Nayarit by locals). The region is known for its beautiful beaches, culture, and incredible seafood. Despite many misgivings of some and information on wikipedia, the region is not dangerous. In fact, you will find that not only is it safe, English is a primary language of commerce, and American permanent residents make up 20% of the population. It is a port for all major cruise lines as well and has many of the amenities you are used to from home like Costco, Walmart, Sam's Club, major fast food chains, malls, department stores, and fine dining, hotel, and retail establishments. Puerto Vallarta is the sister city to Santa Barbara. Nuevo is a major hub for American retirees and expats and has many resorts, golf courses, and vacation rentals. The weather there is hot all year round as it has a tropical climate. Our ceremony will be during the rainy season, but the occasional rain and clouds are a welcome relief. Even with clouds and rain, the temperatures will remain in the high 80's and the Pacific Ocean a wonderful 83 to 87 degrees. There are many wonderful people, sites, and activities in the region. You can view more about them here: https://visitpuertovallarta.com/ and here: https://www.rivieranayarit.com/destinations/nuevo-nayarit/ Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.

General Flight Information

Our Ceremony will be in the Puerto Vallarta region. We will be in the area on July 27 and returning to the US on August 3, 2024. There are direct flights from many US cities to Puerto Vallarta (PVR). The standard rate for round trip flights outside of two weeks prior ranges from $386 in the southwestern US, $646 in the northern midwest, and $613 in the southeast per person. Below are a list of airlines that offer flights to PVR and airline specific information as known is listed. It is best to fly into PVR. Otherwise, the nearest airports are Tepic (no international inbound flights) and Guadalajara (5 hours south of PVR). You can fly into Guadalajara and connect to PVR. There are several flight booking tips to help you below: * Utilize apps like Skiplagged or other flight price tracking services to book and track airfare prices. * When shopping for flights, search in a private browser on your mobile, laptop, or desktop device as airlines track your internet cookies and increase flight rates as you return to view your options. This will ensure you receive accurate pricing. * The cheapest days to both book and fly are Tuesdays, including internationally.

Flight

Volaris

Volaris is the low cost airline in Mexico. Visualize something between Southwest and Frontier. This airline or through its partner airlines has direct flights from Los Angeles, Phoenix, Detroit, Chicago, and Forth Worth. Typically, it has pretty affordable airfare. However, some airports in the United States do not have direct flights to Puerto Vallarta. This means, on Volaris, you may have to book a connecting flight separately from a Mexican city (likely Mexico City or Guadalara - Guadalajara is best connection to Puerto Vallarta). Also, Volaris' prices are included in flight tracking apps like Skiplagged, so you are able check and book directly through those apps. *Every year on their Anniversary, March 13, 2024, Volaris discounts its fairs up to 80% off. This is the best time to try and buy. For example, flights from Detroit to Guadalajara then to Puerto Vallarta (a separate booking) in 2023 prior to the airline's anniversary were $650 per person, round trip. On their anniversary, the flights were $230 round trip. So, it is advisable that you try to book through them on their Anniversary.

Discount Code - *Volaris March 13 Anniversary Sale (see info above)

Flight

This is another major Mexican airline that services a lot of major US cities. However, it is usually pricier than Volaris and other US carriers. Aero's prices are included in flight tracking apps like Skiplagged, so you are able check and book directly through those apps.

Accommodations

Now is a great time to start booking your hotel. There are a lot of options, but will soon be filling up as the locals begin booking their summer vacations in the region. *Please let us know where you book your accommodations so that we may properly arrange your transportation to and from the ceremony. Thank you so much. Our suggestion is utilizing some of the most popular apps to find lodging. These include Hotels.com, Booking.com, VRBO, AirBNB, Expedia, Travelocity, and others. There, you will find a wide range of options. Our ceremony and party will be on July 31, and after parties will likely take place on the days after at our primary accommodations in PVR.
