Once upon a time in early 2020, before phrases like "social distancing" and "lockdown" became part of our daily vocabulary, two adventurous souls decided to take a chance on love through Hinge. Little did they know, this swipe would change their lives forever. Our story began with a date at Prince Alfred in Richmond, the last pub in Melbourne with an available reservation 2 weeks before Melbourne was on lockdown for 2 years straight. Picture this: a dimly lit, nearly empty pub, the kind of place where you could hear a pin drop. Yet, for us, it was the perfect setting for sparks to fly. We bonded over awkward small talk, hearty laughs, and a mutual appreciation for the pub's unique ambience (and by unique, we mean deserted). Our second date was a creative solution to Melbourne's quickly filling reservation books: we hit the gym together. No reservations are required, just a mutual love for staying active and a sense of adventure. If lifting weights and spotting each other doesn’t build a strong foundation for a relationship, we don’t know what does! As Melbourne faced its infamous lockdowns, we became "bubble friends," finding joy in each other’s company through endless walks on the Brighton beachfront, Netflix watch parties, and socially distanced dog walks. Despite the challenges, our bond only grew stronger. Fast forward to today, and we’re the proud parents of two adorable fur babies: a half-blind rescue bull terrier with a heart of gold and a staffy who thinks he's a lapdog. Our little family resides in our cozy home near the beach in Frankston South, where we spend our days in the sun, going to wineries, taking long walks, going to the local beach and enjoying the occasional BBQ. And then came the moment that changed everything. It was a typical winter day in Melbourne – cold, windy, and absolutely freezing. We decided to drive to Point Leo Estate for wine and a bit of an adventure. In the midst of the biting cold, he got down on one knee and, with a cheeky grin, asked "Yes or Yes?" Is there another answer? We’re thrilled to share our love story with you and can’t wait to celebrate our special day surrounded by the people who mean the most to us and, most importantly, rum.
