We like to say our biology professor, Dr. Adair, and our classmates put us together... We met on Day 1 of Baylor in our biology class. Josh remembers Chrissy sitting at the front of the classroom and answering every question. However, Chrissy recalls that it was *Josh* who sat at the front of the classroom, and Chrissy noticed him from her seat a few rows behind. Regardless, the lesson is: Sit close to the front of the classroom. All the cool kids hang out there. Anyway, after two semesters of being friends and getting to know each other, we started dating, right? Not quite... At the end of freshman year, our biology class chose two students to attend a research conference that summer in VA. Somehow, we were selected! Chrissy remembers being excited that she was selected, but also *especially* excited that Josh was chosen, too. This led to us talking throughout the summer and going on our first trip together (along with Dr. Adair, of course.) Surely, after a summer of talking and going to VA together, *then* we went on our first date, right?! Also not quite... During the fall semester of our sophomore year, we spent even more time together, especially with our good friends Sabrina (one of my bridesmaids!) and Thomas (one of my groomsmen!). Sabrina was the best wing-woman Chrissy could ask for, and Josh, as a Resident Assistant, was gifted (for better or worse) a floor of guys who would drop subtle (and not so subtle) hints that Chrissy and Josh should start dating. Finally, after much anticipation, Josh asked the question, "Would you... join me for dinner?" Josh and Chrissy walked around Baylor's campus before Josh treated Chrissy to the Czech-American Restaurant in West, TX. Chrissy, a recently recovering vegetarian, ate the mysterious Czech sausage she had evidently ordered. She. Ate. All of it. And that, friends, is when she knew she must really like Josh. We finished our dinner, got kolaches at the nearby Czech Stop, and talked on the Waco Suspension Bridge for hours. It was a perfect first date on 10/14/2017, and the start of many more wonderful dates to come. Fast forward 4.5 years, and Josh (who now lives in Fort Worth) visited Chrissy in Waco for Valentine's Day weekend. He treated Chrissy to Common Grounds, a favorite Baylor coffee shop, before walking with Chrissy around campus. When we reached the Draper archway (pictured above), Josh got down on one knee to ask, "Will you marry me?" Chrissy shrieked, gave Josh a hug, and joyfully accepted Josh's ring. A few hours later, Josh confirmed that this was Chrissy-speak for "yes" (Chrissy thinks she said "yes" in the moment, too, but neither of us really remember.) Either way, Josh wanted to recreate our first date by going to a Czech restaurant after walking around campus. We enjoyed an incredible meal at Pivovar, a new Czech restaurant in downtown that opened just in time for our engagement (thanks Waco)! Chrissy did not order the sausage this time. We have loved being engaged and can't wait for 10/8/2022- 4 years and 51 weeks after our first date! Josh and Chrissy mysteriously managed to stand right next to each other- that might explain why our smiles are extra big:)
