One of our favorite date night spots, whether with each other or more preferred company. Come for American tavern fare and cocktails in a "Washington Stayed Here" environment.* *Washington never stayed here.

A favorite "bring your parents when they're paying" Italian spot across from The Bowery Hotel.
Le French Diner
Hole in the wall, no reservations dive with a small set menu of killer French fare each night. The scallops convinced Chrissy to quit veganism. This is also the spot we came the night we got engaged, because nothing says "romance" like a slab of au gratin potatoes.
Ruffian
If you want to feel cooler than you are (like we do) check out Ruffian, another tiny wine bar (are you sensing a theme here?). Ruffian has hundreds of wines to choose from, but the red lentil hummus is the real show stopper.
Chote Nawab
Our favorite Indian spot, right across from David's OG New York apartment. Low glamour, high flavor.
Pig and Khao
Vegetarians need not apply (as David learned the hard way, twice).

Ladybird
A veggie lover's dream. We're particularly fond of the artichoke chardonnay fondue.

Nice French brunch spot in the West Village (with even nicer french fries).

Housing Works Bookstore Cafe & Bar
If you want to pick up a book for the weekend or trip home, we highly recommend HousingWorks - a used bookstore and cafe that donates sales proceeds to charity.

One of our favorite museums in NYC that just reopened in brand new digs.
Essex Market
For those staying in the neighborhood, check out the new Essex Market -- a multilevel food hall offering a variety of cuisines, bars, and shops. Our favorites are Don Ceviche and the Ample Hills Creamery cart.
