Around 2008, Chris's dad, Don, was touring Michigan's Upper Peninsula on motorcycle. On his tour, Don stumbled upon a small farm displaying many antique tractors. Don stopped by and soon met Nicki's grandparents, Don and Diane Lekies. The Lekies' showed Don around the farm, swapped stories throughout the afternoon, and then Don headed off to finish his motorcycle trip. In 2017, Chris and Don were planning a trip through the U.P. and wanted to reconnect with the Lekies Farm. After many failed attempts at contacting Don and Diane, Chris decided to "Google" the Lekies last name; and Nicki popped up! Seeing that Nicki shared the same last name as Don and Diane, Chris inquired about her relationship to them. Nicki explained that Don and Diane were her grandparents, and a lot has changed since Don's original viewing in 2008. In that time, Diane had passed away and Don had sold the farm and most of the tractors. What he kept was relocated to Nicki's parents' home. Chris and Don were invited to the Lekies' household to see what was left of the collection...and the rest is history! We cannot confirm, nor deny, that Chris solely went to the U.P. just for tractors!
