Downtown Blacksburg
Head to Downtown Blacksburg for a variety of options to eat, drink, and shop. There are several outdoor spots to have pizza, a beer, or ice cream. Navigate to the intersection of College Ave. & N Main Street.
Eastern Divide Brewing Company
Another favorite local microbrewery that has a variety of options, big open feel, and great outdoor space. Plus, kids love playing on the rocks. They also have some tasty food made with local ingredients! You can also buy 6 packs with beautifully designed labels by an accomplished graphic designer (and friend😁).
Rising Silo Brewery
A pretty farm to relax, kick-back with some decent microbrews (plus other drinks) and farm fresh food.
Huckleberry Trail
Easy access to this paved recreation trail is available in Blacksburg and Christiansburg. Great for walking, running, biking - there are even rentable electric bikes at access points. Very family friendly. In Blacksburg, the easiest access begins at the Blacksburg Public Library.
Heritage Community Park and Natural Area
Heritage park is one of our favorite places to take a walk, have picnics, and play frisbee with friends. There are amazing views, paved and mowed walking trails, a nature play area for small kids, old farm structures to explore. It's also right across the street from Rising Silo.
Duckpond Road Lot
This is right on campus and easy to walk to from the Inn at Virginia Tech. There is a short walking path along one side of the pond with a few picnic tables. Additionally the Drillfield is right across West Campus Drive - a great place to walk, play, or just sit under a big tree.
Blacksburg Wine Lab
This has a nice selection of wines, cocktails, small plates, and other small bite options. This is also where Chris and I went for our first date together! It has a great atmosphere and some outdoor seating.
