Our Love Story

Like all great modern romances, ours began at a university Halloween party in Lincoln- the kind where costumes involve minimal effort and the real star of the night is the cheap booze. I was a black cat (classic), Chris was a vampire (even more classic), and somehow, despite the questionable outfits and loud music, we still managed to impress each other. We swapped Snapchats in true Gen Z style, and after a very heavy night out, I messaged him the next day. Chris actually replied- and somehow managed to remember my existence -and that was the beginning. Eventually we ended up in a student house together… with some truly unforgettable flatmates. Between living in what can only be described as a drug den, and sharing a home with people who wore penguin costumes to watch David Attenborough on acid, it was character-building to say the least. If nothing else, it bonded us for life. We then went through a global pandemic lockdown together, surviving on student loan and no exams, we found joy in the little things like securing a bag of pasta and ordering cocktails through the post. After graduation, we moved to Birmingham and learned some important adult lessons: life is considerably better with a concierge and your own gym, and Deliveroo can solve almost every problem life throws at you. I completed my masters in Mental Health while Chris adjusted to big-city life and pretended to enjoy the New Street station chaos. Then came Bath. A spontaneous weekend trip turned into a full-on love affair with the city- the food, the culture, the architecture, the calmness. We still can’t quite believe we managed to secure a flat on a historic crescent, sharing it with neighbours who were architectural illustrators and whose emergency Amazon deliveries consisted entirely of sauerkraut. It was our “we’re actual adults now” era. After two happy years there, we moved to Somerset, into a lovely cul-de-sac where we’ve successfully brought the average age down by about 20 years. We’re also dangerously close to multiple cider barns, much to Chris’s absolute delight. These days, our perfect weekend is either a cosy night in or a countryside walk, admiring dogs that aren’t ours, wandering around a market, or pretending we have any self-control when it comes to baked goods or cheese. We’ve mastered the art of quiet adventures - and the adult free will to watch trash TV until the early hours without anyone telling us otherwise. From university students in questionable costumes to a life built on good food, long walks, and a lot of laughter- it’s been the best journey and we can’t wait to celebrate the next chapter with you all!
