Travel

Nantucket can seem intimidating to travel to but we hope to help with that. We've listed a few of our favorite hotels/vacation rental companies as well as the "how to get here" part. As far as traveling to Nantucket, flying is obviously the easiest, but if you're traveling with kids or feel like driving.. you'll need to take a ferry from Hyannis, MA. The two ferry companies listed are the only way aside from plane. I highly recommend parking your car in Hyannis if taking the ferry over as it can be very expensive to bring a car to the island. I also highly recommend booking any accommodations as soon as you can... it's a small island and we don't have any chain hotels so things tend to fill up.

Travel Note

Ferry: Steamship Authority

Traveling from Hyannis to Nantucket. Steamship offers both high speed (about 1hr) and low speed (about 2 hrs) ferries so pay close attention to the schedule. The steamship has a parking lot and offers a free shuttle to the boat in Hyannis from the parking lot.

Travel Note

Ferry: Hyline

Traveling from Hyannis to Nantucket. The Hyline only has fast speed ferries which take about an hour to reach Nantucket.

Flight

Nantucket Airport

JetBlue flies direct to Nantucket and is usually the best prices. If you know anyone else attending that would like to fly as well be sure to call 1-888-JETBLUE and press option 2. They offer discounts for groups of 8-9 people.

Hotel

The Roberts Collection

11 India Street
Nantucket, MA 02554
 (508) 228-0600

This is a collection of a few different small hotels downtown. The hotel is currently closed for the winter so you'll have to book online. They're beautiful rooms at a great cost. Rates start at $99/night and are walking distance to the reception venue.

Hotel

The Beachside on Nantucket

30 North Beach Street
Nantucket, MA 02554
 (508) 228-2241

The beachside (like most Nantucket hotels) does not take room blocks this time of year. Still, let them know you are with the Burleson/Shatinsky wedding. Rates start at $165/night.

Hotel

The Nantucket Hotel & Resort

77 Easton Street
Nantucket, MA 02554
 (508) 228-4747

This hotel does not take room blocks but it is one of our favorites. They have a continental breakfast, hotel tub, gym and drop in childcare during the mornings if you'd like to hit one of their yoga classes. Rates start at $275 but they also have large suites that can accomodate many people.

Travel Note

Air bnb

We're big fans of airbnb and there are plenty of great rental properties on Island. Just be sure to specify if you want a whole house/apartment or more of a bed & breakfast style while filling out your search. I've attached a direct link to air bnb nantucket. (Please double check the location of your rental... sometimes they sneak ones for Martha's Vineyard or Hyannis on there.)

Travel Note

Taxi/bus info

Clyde's Cab: (508) 332-6200 Milestone Taxi: (508) 325-5511 We also have Uber & Lyft on Island. "The wave" or NRTA is the islands public transportation bus. You can find their schedule & info at NRTAwave.com. The fare is $2 and you must have exact change.

Travel Note

Babysitting

We do have some friends who had the great idea of bringing along a friend/relative for the weekend who can also babysit during the reception dinner. I know that might not work for everyone so if anyone is in need of a babysitter for the hours during the reception, please feel free to reach out. We will do our best to help find a trusted sitter for you. There are also multiple childcare services such as Care.com and Nannytucket.net that can help.
