Travel

For those traveling in we hope you can find the time to enjoy your trip to Colorado. Late August into September may be the best time of the entire year for any mountain activity. Please reach out if you need any recommendations to help turn a weekend celebration into a full on vacation. We're so excited to spend a few days with you!

Travel Note

It's Labor Day Weekend!

Holiday weekends are known to bring crowds to the mountains. Please note that I-70 to/from Denver will get congested on the weekends and a small crash can potentially add hours to travel times. To avoid the worst of it, we recommend traveling either Thursday (anytime) or Friday morning (the earlier the better). Similarly, to avoid the worst of the traffic on the way back to Denver, we recommend leaving Sunday afternoon or either early (going through the tunnels well before noon) or late Monday. Because of the holiday weekend, we also recommend booking rental cars and lodging early to ensure availability.

House Or Rental

Lodging

We recommend booking your lodging soon as options are filling up for the holiday weekend! All options will require driving a short distance to Stone River Glen. Paonia will be in the middle of the Friday and Saturday night venues. A shuttle will be provided to/from Paonia on Saturday - more details to come!

Flight

Denver International Airport (DEN)

Flying into DIA is likely the cheapest and provides the most options. DIA is roughly 4h 30m from Stone River Glen without traffic. From Denver you'll drive West on I-70 through Colorado's ski country which is a beautiful drive. Please see below for recommendations on avoiding traffic.

Flight

Grand Junction (GJT)

Grand Junction is a growing regional airport and hosts direct flights from Dallas, Los Angeles, Orange County, Phoenix, San Francisco, and Las Vegas. This option may add a layover to your flight in Denver but also gets you a lot closer if you want to avoid the longer drive time over the Continental Divide. Grand Junction is 1h 45m from Stone River Glen. An added bonus to this option is you won't need to deal with/plan around the infamous I-70 traffic.

Flight

Montrose Regional Airport (MTJ)

Similar to Grand Junction, Montrose is an option to get you closer to Stone River Glen, minimize drive times, and avoid potential traffic. Montrose is smaller than Grand Junction but has many direct flights from Denver every day and is 1h 20m from Stone River Glen.

Rental Car

Rent a Car

For our friends and family flying in, there is limited public transportation/ubers/taxis/etc. available in the direct area so we recommend renting a car or carpooling with others. Please make sure to check rental car availability if you are looking at flying into Grand Junction or Montrose. If you do want to take public transportation for part of the journey, Bustang is a great, affordable service that can get you to Glenwood Springs (from either Grand Junction or Denver). The local bus can get you from Glenwood to Carbondale. From Carbondale, you'll need to arrange a ride with someone for the last leg over McClure Pass! An alternative to renting a car is to rent an RV or camper van! Kebler Corner is 5 minutes from the property and has many RV sites for an affordable price. There are many companies to choose from in both Denver and Grand Junction.
