Our suggested dress code is “Alpine Cocktail Attire” - if you Google it, you will quickly realize it’s not actually a thing. We hope you’ll wear something you feel comfortable and classy in - and do not forget your warm coat! For shoes, we recommend shoes that are secure on your feet (losing a shoe while on the chairlift would probably not be fun) and allow you to get on and off the chairlift safely. You will need to walk on woodchips when getting on the lift, but otherwise all walking will be on cement, decking, or indoors. No hiking required!
Weather on the mountain is hard to predict but it will likely be colder than you expect, especially after the sun goes down. The high in the afternoon will probably be between 50º and 70ºF; the low at night will likely be close to freezing. This means bringing a warm coat is a MUST! We will also have light fleece blankets for the ride down at the end of the night. Weather allowing, the ceremony will take place outdoors on the lodge patio, while cocktail hour and the reception will be inside. If the weather is bad (i.e. snowing, very windy, or lightening/thunder storm) we do have a plan B - so don’t worry!
The drive to Mt. Bachelor from Bend is about 25 minutes and very easy - you take South Century Drive straight to the base of the mountain, and there is plenty of parking at the ski resort. If driving there, park at West Village parking lot and pick up your lift ticket at the Ticket Window before loading the Pine Marten Lift. We will be providing optional shuttles from town to the mountain for anyone who wants a ride - we recommend doing this if you plan to drink at the reception or if you want to enjoy the beautiful views along the drive (see below for more information). If you are driving to the mountain, we recommend arriving at least 20-15 minutes before the ceremony starts to allow time for taking the chairlift up to Pine Marten Lodge. We would not recommend planning on a Lyft, Uber, or taxi to the mountain - it's unlikely that you would be able to get one to the mountain.
The shuttles will leave from the Loge Camp Hotel around 1:30pm on Saturday. At the end of the wedding, the first shuttle will leave Mt. Bachelor to head back to the Loge Camp Hotel at 9:00pm, and the last shuttle will leave Mt. Bachelor at 10:00pm (with one more in-between depending on need). If you're not staying at Loge and want to take the shuttle, feel free to park in their parking lot for the evening. The hotel has requested you don’t park in front of rooms if not staying at the hotel.
If the weather allows, our ceremony and reception will take place at Pine Marten Lodge, located mid-way up Mt. Bachelor and requiring an 8-10 minute chairlift ride. If it rains, thunderstorms, or is too windy then the wedding will take place at the base of the mountain at the West Village Lodge. The chairlift is modern, with four padded seats on each chair. It moves slowly as you get on and off, or you can ask for it to be stopped while you sit/stand if you need more time. You can find pictures of the chairlift here: https://liftblog.com/pine-marten-express-mt-bachelor-or/ Scenic chairlift rides are common in the summer at Mt. Bachelor - see more information here: https://traveloregon.com/things-to-do/outdoor-recreation/bicycling/mountain-biking/riding-summertime-scenic-lift-mt-bachelor/
Yes! Walkers, joggers, serious runners, and anyone who wants a nice morning stroll along the river should come. We will be on mostly paved trails along the Deschutes River and will have a Google route everyone can follow.
