We're getting married!

We were both living in the same apartment complex when I (Emily) first moved to Birmingham. Chris showed up to the dog park early one morning while I was up there with Theodore Tugboat having coffee. I was not in the mood for chit chat with a stranger since I was still trying to wake up. Chris introduced himself and made a normal amount of small talk for 7am. I was pleasantly surprised, thought he was cute, and I didn't mind running into him again. I ended up seeing him the next day at the pool. He was with his daughter, Mary Emma, who was 5 years old at the time, and he told her about Theodore Tugboat knowing she would ask me about him. She asked me to meet them at the dog park that evening. Chris asked for my number "in case we want to take the dogs to the dog park at the same time" then asked me out the following day.

Chris invited me over to watch a movie with him a few days after we met. I was a little disappointed that he didn't even try and kiss me that night, but he asked me to come over and hang out again the next night. He finally kissed me then asked if he could take me out on a real date that Friday night. He took me to a great local sushi restaurant then to a dive karaoke bar where he showed off by singing Neon Moon by Brooks and Dunn. Since we first met on a Friday the 13th, we now celebrate by a sushi date night +/- karaoke each Friday the 13th.

We were having an unplanned date night at home in our bourbon lounge. We spent the evening playing our favorite game, listening to music, and trying new bourbons we had recently collected. Chris hid the ring in the box of one of the new rare bourbons we just bought and finally got me to open it after at least an hour of trying. He got down on one knee, but I am not sure he even had the chance to ask before I already had the ring on. It was perfectly us. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter of our lives with you!
