Things To Do

We're so excited to host you in our little mountain town! Here are a few things we think you might enjoy.

Sundeck - Aspen Mountain

Aspen, CO

Take the Silver Queen Gondola to the top of Aspen Mountain (Ajax to us locals) for breathtaking views and delicious refreshments. The Gondola runs Friday - Sunday from 10:00 - 4:00. For a more difficult adventure try hiking Ute Trail to the top of Ajax. Plan for at least 2 hours.

Woody Creek Tavern

Woody Creek, CO

Rent a bike and ride the Rio Grande Trail to Woody Creek Tavern (cash only). You can ride back or schedule a shuttle to take you back to town.

Elk Camp Gondola

Snowmass Village, CO

The Elk Camp Gondola on Snowmass takes you to a mid-mountain restaurant and has fun activities including a mountain coaster, ropes course and climbing wall.

Local hikes

Some of our favorite hikes include Hunter Creek/Valley (moderate), Ute Trail (short but very steep), Weller Lake (short and easy) and Snowmass Creek (moderate but long). These are just a few but there are an abundance of options to choose from!

Fly Fishing

For the sportsmen, try fly fishing on our Gold Medal Roaring Fork and Frying Pan Rivers. Catch and release only. We aren't the fishing type so you're best finding a guide who knows the area well.

Mountain Biking

Snowmass has an incredible Mountain Bike trail system. Either pay for a Gondola ride to the top of Elk Camp or enjoy the free trails including Rim Trail and Sky Mountain Park.

Aspen Art Museum

637 East Hyman Avenue, Aspen, CO 81611

The Aspen Art Museum is a contemporary art museum located in the heart of downtown Aspen, Colorado. The museum's collection includes over 2,000 works of contemporary art, including paintings, sculptures, installations, photographs, and videos. So Cafe on the rooftop has stunning views of Aspen and the surrounding mountains.

Independence Pass

The drive up Independence Pass is a breathtaking experience, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountain peaks, crystal-clear alpine lakes, and verdant forests. The road itself is narrow and winding, with hairpin turns and steep drop-offs, making for an exhilarating drive. Along the way, there are several pullouts, overlooks and historic sites to explore or take in the views and snap photos.

Golf & Tennis

39551 CO 82, Aspen, CO 81611

The Aspen Golf & Tennis Club is open to the public and has reasonable availability in the fall. Enjoy a round of golf or tennis match (rentals available) then grab lunch at the Red Mountain Grill that overlooks the 18th green.

John Denver Sanctuary

470 Rio Grande Place, Aspen, CO 81611

Quiet and pretty park and wetlands celebrating one of Aspen's most iconic residents.

Snowmass Balloon Festival

Snowmass Village, CO

Early riser? Check out the Snowmass Balloon Festival! You'll get some spectacular pictures of colorful hot air balloons against a beautiful backdrop!
