FAQs

Question

Why the Sequoia Retreat Center?

Answer

The California Redwoods hold something special for us after taking many adventures through vacationing, hiking, camping, Star Wars affiliation, and most recently an engagement. The Sequoia Retreat Center is an amazing hillside retreat tucked into the coastal redwoods of the Santa Cruz mountains, with the benefit of not just one day, but a full weekend. We envisioned celebrating our love in the great outdoors, where our relationship first began. We are so very excited to be spending the weekend with our close family and friends among these majestic trees.

Question

What should I bring if I am staying on site?

Answer

Yourselves of course! But you should also pack like you are camping! Headlamps or flash lights, a light jacket, snacks, and a water bottle are all good ideas for this weekend. We recommend keeping your high heels at home, and wearing flats or sandals throughout the weekend...it's a bit rugged in these woods. This might be a good time to remind you, there are no TV's in the cabins.

Question

What are the site restrictions?

Answer

Sorry, but no smoking is allowed (of any kind). We are in the forest, so please be respectful and do your part in preventing forest fires. This is also a good time to remind you that there is NO hard liquor allowed on site. This is a beer, wine, and champagne only wedding.

Question

How is cell service?

Answer

There is minimal data coverage, with limited wi-fi, in these beautiful redwoods. So, don't expect to use your phone much once on site. And we also ask that you limit your camera usage during the ceremony - we have hired a phenomenal photographer who will capture the entire ceremony in great detail. Feel free to use your phone for photos as much as possible following the ceremony and throughout the weekend!

Question

What about my little ones?

Answer

We love your kids—we really do. But we want our wedding to be your night off! Please know there is very little space at the Sequoia Retreat Center, and accordingly we encourage a weekend getaway for the grownups.

Question

What if I am NOT staying on site--can I still park at the Sequoia Retreat Center?

Answer

There is almost no available parking at the Sequoia Retreat Center. Onsite guests are encouraged to carpool, and offsite guests are strongly encouraged to take the shuttle. Check the TRAVEL section for more information on the Shuttle Service arrival and departure times.
