We love the Zoo and consistently keep a membership for all the fun things to do and see. Riverbanks is ranked as the 4th best zoo in the nation with over 170-acres housing more than 2,000 animals in naturalistic habitats free of bars and cages. In the last year, they have just finished a huge expansion. If you haven't been in a while, it's worth a trip!
The Columbia Museum of Art, located on Main Street, is one of our favorite placed to spend a rainy afternoon. They have traveling exhibits and well as their beautiful curated pieces that remain year round on the second floor. Not interested in a tour? Then just quickly stop by and see the exquisite Chihuly Chandelier handing in the lobby.
If you have kids, this place is so much fun!! Everything is hands on allowing children to explore different careers in each room such as farmer, fireman, dentist, restaurant owner, etc. There is a three story little boy in the central area that is a jungle gym for kids to climb, slide, and play. My niece and nephew love this place!

If you love architecture and history, definitely visit the SC State House. The grounds are lovely to walk, and they offer free guided and individual tours.
The Historic Columbia Foundation offers an afternoon of fun through four historic home tours; The Robert Mills Home, The Hampton-Preston Mansion, The Woodrow Wilson Boyhood Home, and the Mann-Simons Cottage. A wonderful way to learn about the rich history of the city. Fun Fact: Jennifer volunteered here as a Junior Docent in High School!
A short drive from downtown is beautiful Lake Murray (where we live). If you would like to get out and stretch your legs, there is a 3 mile Dam Walk with lovely views of the water.
Depending on the weather, Soda City market can an enjoyable time! Each Saturday from 9 AM - 2 PM three block of Main Street are closed, and local vendors come and share their crafts. You can find lots of local food trucks, coffee, handmade items, and more!
