On the morning of the proposal and their 5 year anniversary, Chretien snuck out early to get a card and some freshly baked croissants. He woke her up and told her that they will be spending the day touring the Eiffel Tower. Chretien informed Pajielly to get dolled up because their mutual friend (who lives in Paris) also had a gift for them: a photographer. They were to take anniversary photos later on that day.
When they met the photographer, he went along with the story and took photos of Chretien and Pajielly at many scenic places near the Eiffel Tower. Finally, the photographer suggested they go down to the Siene River. He asked them to go first so he could take some far shots with the river and Eiffel Tower in the background.
There was no one down at the river. It was just Chretien and Pajielly. Pajielly was looking out at the river as Chretien asked, "Where do you want to go next?" When Pajielly turned to answer him, he was down on one knee with a ring.
