Our Recommendations

The Wedding Website of Katie Lucaites and Chloe Wilson
If you google 'Things to do in Washington, D.C.' you will see there is tons to do. There are many 'first time tourist' pit stops, however, we wanted to share the lesser known, fun stops! DC is a very walkable city, it is split into different neighborhoods, with each giving a different 'vibe'. Make sure you hit a few of them! Here is our quick summary of the ones we recommend: -Georgetown: Old town feel, cute townhouses, waterfront restaurants and park, and lots of shopping -Adams Morgan: Bars and nightlife, tends to be a younger crowd. However, we recommend stopping at "As League of Her Own" one of 15 remaining lesbian bars in the US. Help support her! -China town: some of the best restaurants and bars, good nightlife -Eastern market: great day-time wondering and shops -Navy yard: Sports hub, nightlife, and waterfront views -The Wharf: waterfront marina, classy restaurants and views -NOMA: Casual breweries and food, where we live ....and many more!

We love eating in D.C. - we hope you do too!

Click 'view' to go to the google maps list of our favorite DC RESTAURANTS!

National Mall

Ok, yes, this is a tourist must do, BUT it is beautiful and always fun to wonder the National Mall, we catch ourselves here all the time. Its beautiful and lined by FREE museums. However, warning, its longer than you think! It is 3miles one way - est. 1 hour walk!

Bike the Mt. Vernon Trail

Red capital bikes are all over the city, rent one using your phone and bike the trail. We recommend starting at Theodore Roosevelt Island Parking Lot, stop by Old Town Alexandria, and head to Mt Vernon (George Washington's estate). This section is 10 miles long, primarily flat, and est. 1 hour bike without stopping (however, we do recommend you stop!)

Theodore Roosevelt Island

Take a walk around Theodore Roosevelt Island, its a beautiful nature trail overlooking the water. Casual and flat.

Metropolitan Beer Trail

Metropolitan Beer Trail (MBT)...it is really called Metropolitan Branch Trail, but this walking path links 11 breweries and bars which stretches from Union Station northward through the neighborhoods of NoMa, Eckington, and Brookland. Let us know if you make this an event, we live on the trial so we will join you! And yes....we have the Tshrirt!

Pedalboat the Tidal Basin

On a beautiful day, it's a great way to see MLK monument, Thomas Jefferson Monument and sneak a peak at Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial (Chloe's favorite!). When you see photos of DC's cherry blossoms, this is the basin that the photos are from!

Sports Games

Catch a Nats game (baseball), United (men's soccer) or Spirit (women's soccer)! We will likely try and arrange a Nat's night for anyone who is in town and interested so that we can have a section together, followed by a staple of ours...post-baseball Karaoke! Please let me know if you are interested! More details to come...

National Zoo

FREE zoo with wonderful animals - Chloe's favorites are the Elephants.

For all the days along the way
