Visit one of our favorite places! There's plenty to do and see in this historic "haunted" mining town. Lots of interesting shops & galleries, delicious restaurants, and fun bars. Some of our faves are: The Haunted Hamburger, The Clinkscale, and The Spirit Room. There are also haunted mine tours and unparalleled views from this cool little city perched on the side of the mountain.
Sedona is well-known for its spectacular red rock formations. There are too many things to do here to mention them all: hiking, dining, jeep and off-road adventures (generally limited to guided tour companies.) One of the not-to-be-missed spots is the Chapel of the Holy Cross church, which is built right into the beautiful red rocks.
A fun way to spend the afternoon in comfort and style in vintage rail cars on a century-old route through a red-rock paradise along the curves of the Verde River. Enjoy refreshing drinks, thoughtful amenities, and engaging narration for a relaxing and adventurous journey.
If you're up for some fresh air and ancient history, visit the ruins of the Tuzigoot pueblo, a 110-room village built about 1000 years ago on a self-guided, 0.3 mile loop trail. The Pueblo Trail also offers outstanding views of the Verde River and the Verde Valley. Another 0.5 mile trail (1 mile round trip), takes you to an overlook of Tavasci Marsh.
Another amazing example of ancient native culture is Montezuma Castle. This 20 room high-rise apartment, nestled into a towering limestone cliff, tells a story of ingenuity, survival and ultimately, prosperity in an unforgiving desert landscape. A self-guided, 1/3-mile loop trail leads you past an incredible 5-story cliff dwelling, through a beautiful sycamore grove and along spring-fed Beaver Creek, one of only a few perennial streams in Arizona. At Montezuma Well, another 1/3-mile loop leads you past an amazing oasis, used by the Sinagua people over 600 years ago. (One entrance fee covers this monument AND Tuzigoot)
