I met Chijioke through a mutual Instagram connection named Izu. Izu is a friend of Chijioke and also works as a matchmaker. He shared our photos with each other, and we both expressed interest in getting to know one another. The first time Chijioke texted me, he said, “I’m not a photographer, but I can already picture us together.” That dry line made me laugh really hard. The first time Chijioke called me, we talked on the phone for over four hours. It felt like I was talking to someone I had known for years. It was very easy to talk to him, and it still is. During that call, we realized we had another mutual friend, Emmanuel. After I got off the phone with Chijioke, I called Emmanuel to ask about him, and Emmanuel encouraged me to keep talking to him. Chijioke later flew down to Tallahassee, Florida, under the guise of coming for Emmanuel’s graduation but he didn’t even attend the graduation. Instead, he spent the entire trip with me. On that trip, he asked me to be his girlfriend, and I happily said yes. He proposed on Valentine’s Day in 2024, and we got married in May. Chijioke is my person. I truly love him, and I’m excited to spend the rest of my life with him.
A simple short story. I met her on Instagram through a mutual friend, Izu (I know I am one of the lucky few). I said something funny that made her laugh, and then we started exchanging texts and voice messages. The first time we spoke, we ended up on a voice call for over four hours. I don't even know what I would be saying to another person for that long, but it was obvious there was a lot of chemistry between us. Not long after, I realized we had another mutual friend. Knowing he can only be friends with smart and forward thinking people (shoutout to my bro Emmanuel), I asked for his thoughts and a little information about her. After speaking with him, I decided to travel down to Tallahassee, Florida, to see them both (Mostly her. Emmanuel was a supporting character). On that trip, I asked her to be my girlfriend (after eating her egusi soup, lol). We were traditionally and civilly married in May 2024, but we decided to complete the journey in the presence of God, and share this beautiful memory with our family, friends, and loved ones. We have come a long way, and life has been beautiful with Sarah. I love her, and I am eagerly looking forward to a future with her.
