Things To Do

There are plenty of great things to do while you’re in Beaufort, but here are some of our favorites from over the years.
The Old Point

The Old Point

Beaufort Historic District, also known as “The Old Point”, is filled with some of the oldest and most beautiful homes in Beaufort. It is just down the street from the wedding venue and absolutely worth walking through. If you are bringing your kids for the weekend, the Old Point is a great spot for trick or treating and ghost hunting! One of the oldest homes on the point even opens its doors to the public on Halloween as a special treat for the kids.

Southurn Rose Carriage Tours

Southurn Rose Carriage Tours

1002 Bay Street, Beaufort, SC 29902

Take a horse and carriage ride through Downtown Beaufort and learn about the history and architecture of the town. There are a couple carriage ride tours in the area, but this one is our favorite.

Downtown Beaufort and Bay Street

Downtown Beaufort and Bay Street

Downtown Beaufort is great for shopping and walking around. Bay Street is the main street, but there are plenty of side streets with boutiques, restaurants, and candy stores. Make sure to walk down to the water for some great views.

Port Royal and the Sands

Port Royal and the Sands

Port Royal, SC

Port Royal is another small town in Beaufort County with restaurants and cute streets to walk through. You can stop at the sands for a picnic or to hunt for shark teeth (which this beach gets plenty of!). The nearby Cypress Wetlands walking trail is also great place for bird watching.

Shellring Ale Works

Shellring Ale Works

Brewery in the heart of Port Royal! This is a great spot to sit back and drink a beer with an incredible view of the water.

Rent Kayaks

Rent Kayaks

The absolute best way to see Beaufort is out on the water, kayaking through the rivers and marshes with the dolphins and wildlife. Higher Ground Outfitters has kayak and paddle board rentals and tours. If you are interested in see some nature, this is the thing to do!

Hunting Island State Park Beach

Hunting Island State Park Beach

2555 Sea Island Parkway, Hunting Island, SC 29920

Beautiful state park with forests reminiscent of Jurassic Park and a lighthouse. Walk to the top of the lighthouse, enjoy some of the beautiful walking trails, or lounge on the beach.

Fishing

Fishing

Beaufort is known for its fishing! While the best fishing is out in a boat or kayak, you can also fish off the waterfront in Downtown Beaufort or any of the piers nearby. Make sure you get a saltwater permit, only $10 for the day.

Penn Center

Penn Center

16 Penn Center Circle East, Saint Helena Island, SC 29920

The Penn Center, formerly the Penn School, is an African-American cultural and educational hub on Saint Helena Island. The center sits on 50 acres of protected marsh and has a small museum dedicated to the former school and the Gullah culture. Great spot to go if you are a history buff!

Shrimp Shack
