With family and friends traveling from at least 6 different continents, identifying a wedding location wasn’t easy. With Michael hailing from the world’s most isolated city (Perth) and Xinyi coming from the pearl of the east (Shanghai), and with many friends and family residing on either side of the Atlantic, Europe seemed like the logical destination to meet. However, Xinyi paused at Michael’s initial suggestion of a wedding in the Scottish Highlands; for this lover of beach and surf, a sunnier celebration beckoned (for which the vast majority of friends and family will be grateful for!). We all know of Michael’s passion for all things historic and old. As a boy his parents indulged this love of history with trips to castles, the pyramids in Egypt and Fremantle Jail in Perth. Xinyi’s passions revolve around sun and the sea, good down to earth food, and wild adventures. Where better to find these different elements across Europe than on the beautiful island of Malta?!! With its rich history - from the arrival of the Phoenicians, to the construction of the Arabic fortress city of M’dina, to being the home to the Order of the Knights of St John - in many ways Malta’s collision of cultures symbolizes the coming together of our own family, friends, and heritage. More to the point, Malta is the perfect destination for friends and family to reunite, be merry, and have fun together. Let’s face it - we could all do with more of this after the past two years. We are excited for you to join us to celebrate this next chapter together. For some this will be the first time meeting one another, for others it is a chance to reunite after years apart. Either way, it will be a moment to create new memories and make a toast for the future - cheers, gān bēi, skål, bottoms up, prost, salud, na zdrowie, serefe, noroc, slàinte mhath, saħħa! See you in Malta! Ghidli ma’ min taghmilha u nghidlek x’int – Tell me who you’re friends with and I’ll tell you what you are, Maltese proverb
On this website you'll find some restaurant suggestions and other ideas for things to do. ADDITIONALLY, one of our friends has organized a sailing charter between Malta and Sicily on the afternoon of August 25th following the brunch. The base cost of the boat but there is plenty of room. The ferry back is that night is 66 Euro or it can be made into an overnight trip. Please contact raelyncampbell@gmail.com if you are interested.
