I met Chelsey in 2003 when I was a freshman & she was a sophomore, in our Honors Spanish class. The first time I saw her, I thought she was the prettiest girl in school. I was the only freshman in the class & made sure to get a seat directly in front of her so that I could get to know her. She acted too cool for me at first, but after she got to know me, I think she had a small crush on me as well, since we got in trouble for flirting on more than one occasion that year! Although we had this connection, the timing was never quite right. We became friends, but we never dated. I did muster up the courage in 2006 to ask her to formal & it was by far the best formal/prom ever. I remember when my mom met her for the first time, she told me she knew we would end up together. I thought she was crazy. In 2007, I visited Chels at IU. We went to my first college party & had to walk back to her dorm across campus in absolutely freezing cold weather around 2am. Despite all of this, I immediately knew I wanted to go to IU (I loved the college, but it didn’t hurt that the girl of my dreams went there also). Chels helped me setup my own Facebook account that weekend, which was a way for her and me to stay connected. Although we both went to IU, the timing was still not right. We both fell in love with Bloomington & once Chels graduated, she got a job at IU Health as an ER Nurse. We started spending more time together my senior year in 2011 & I decided to stay in Btown because the woman I loved was there. It felt like the timing may finally be right. The next year, we moved in together. We had an amazing apartment on Kirkwood & after a few short months, we took in a stray cat & the timing was finally right for our little family. After 9 yrs, I still think she is the prettiest girl I have ever met. I hate to admit it, but my mom was right so many years ago. On Oct 11, I get to marry not only the girl of my dreams, but my best friend. It's certainly been a long time coming.
