Our first date was on April 13, 2016 at a Cubs game. As we were walking to the stadium, a couple came up to us asking if we wanted tickets to the game. We already had tickets, so we politely declined. They said, "Trust us, you will want these." So we took their advice, and they were sure not to disappoint with club seats right at first base. Needless to say, it was a great first date.
Ben popped the question in front of his mother, Jeannie, and family at his childhood home on the Friday before St. Patty's Day. Chelsea was sporting her mom's Ralph Lauren sweatshirt from the 90s, jogger sweatpants, and All Birds. Ben dressed like a normal human being at 4pm on a week day with jeans and a long-sleeve polo. After the proposal, we popped open a bottle of champagne to have a toast with Jeannie and celebrated her favorite holiday weekend with family and friends.
Our wedding date was an easy choice for us in multiple ways: It is one day before our engagement anniversary, two days before Ben's parents anniversary, and three days before Jeannie's favorite holiday of St. Pattys Day. It also only made sense to get married at a place called the Ivy House!
