How We Met

27 years in the making

It was 1995. Chelsea moved to Langhorne with her family and started attending Oliver Heckman Elementary, where Andy was already a student. The now-couple were in the same 4th grade class, played their instruments one row apart in band, were co-stars in a performance at 5th grade move-up day, and sat 2 seats apart in homeroom for years and years - but the two don't remember ever having a conversation. Fast forward to May of 2012. Unbeknownst to Chelsea, Andy had become close friends with Chelsea's sister and now-brother-in-law and was a frequent visitor to Chelsea's parents' house. Chelsea graduates from Arizona State and moves home. Chelsea's parents, sister, now-brother-in-law, and countless friends suggest to Chelsea and Andy that they go on a date on countless occasions ("You two are so similar," "It just makes sense," "He's really your type," are just a few comments that the now-engaged couple remember). Andy found the suggestion funny. Chelsea, being completely unaware of who this "Andy" was, found the incessant suggestions annoying and kind of weird. Until September of 2012. Both Andy and Chelsea are invited to a mutual friend's party on Facebook. Perusing the guest list, the two come across each other's profiles and some snooping was done. Chelsea remembers thinking, "Wait, this is the Andy that they're talking about?! I know him!" and also "Wow, he's super cute, and he plays the guitar, and he cares about the environment? Okay, I'm in." Andy remembers thinking, "O, she's good looking and she seems like a genuine person with a good personality." And so, both attended that party in hopes of seeing the other. The two *casually bumped into each other* ("O hey!"). Andy showed Chelsea pictures of a turtle's private parts, Chelsea pretended to be able to see Saturn through a telescope (spoiler: she couldn't), and there was some sort of conversation about high heels vs. wedges. Chelsea thought "Okay, I'm going to marry him." And the rest is history.
