We met on Hinge, a dating app, the first weekend of January 2020. Chelsea recently downloaded the app and was swiping around and "liked" Matt. Matt "liked" her back and invited her on a date the next day. We will argue about how the first date went, but let's just say Chelsea was not too talkative while playing Top Golf, until Matt fed her! The first date turned into a second, and after that point, we joke that Matt never really went home to his apartment again. With the COVID pandemic hitting Houston in March, we became "COVID buddies" and endured those many months of change together. We stayed fit doing outdoor activities and working out in the home gym at the condo. Speaking of enduring things, we also weathered the Houston Freeze together the following year, in Feb 2021. We were without electricity for several days and without water for a week... talk about getting to know a person really well :) We have gone on several Texas vacations together even in our present pandemic times and have gotten to enjoy each other. Matt surprised Chelsea with proposing to her the day before her 30th birthday (she had said before that she wanted to get engaged before 30), in Fredericksburg, TX, on a little weekend break in wine country in Dec 2021. Around this time we were fully immersed in house hunting, trying to find a new home to buy in Houston. That process was long and hard but we found our home and closed on it in February, and moved in the first weekend of March 2022! Then we moved on to wedding planning :) it has been a whirlwind of a ride, but we are so excited to be in our new home and set to be married later this year.
