TOP 5 RESTAURANT! We eat here AT LEAST once every trip (yes, sometimes more than once). The owner is from Colon, the Caribbean region of Panama. This Afro-Panamanian cuisine takes the best of West Indian and Latin Caribbean flavors. This is a low-key, chill restaurant. Don't know what to get? Chastity gets the OnePot every time, Bertram swears by their coconut curry mussels, and we split the cod fritters.
Another great spot for traditional Panamanian cuisine. We recommend the Fiesta Panamena (it has a little bit of everything) with a strawberry lemonade. There are two restaurants in Panama City. Both are banging.
This is a burger truck. But it's SO GOOD that a burger truck made our list of top 5 places to eat in Panama City. Exactly. So, just go. Trust us. And grab a paleta (ice pop) from across the street on your way out. Chastity gets the Flaca Sexy every. single. time. There is a 99% chance that we will make a stop here at least once during the wedding trip.
We went here and got full off the appetizers alone, had to take our entrees to go. This is slightly more upscale compared to the other restaurants on this list - not too expensive, but makes for a cute date-night. If it's not too humid, sit outside and you might hear some live music playing, too.
The Causeway consists of four islands connected by a strip of land (fun fact: the strip of land was made from rocks excavated to construct the Canal). This is a great family-friendly spot where you can find seafood restaurants, scooter rentals, and beautiful views. This is also where you'll come to catch a ferry if you're exploring a nearby island. The Causeway and the Biomuseum are in the same area.
The Cinta Costera (translated to Coastal Beltway) is a 4.3-mile public recreation area that runs along Panama Bay and includes gardens, bike lanes, sports fields, lookouts, and traditional restaurants. You'll find a seafood market(Mercado de Mariscos), a huge PANAMA sign for your photo-op, and raspa’o panameño (aka piragua aka crushed ice bathed in condensed milk and fruit flavors).
Not so much a single destination, more of a general place you'll want to check out when you do leave the resort. Many of the restaurants and bars on this page are located in or near Casco Viejo. We recommend taking some walking shoes and exploring the old town during the day. By night, throw on something cute and check out the nightlife. If we have energy on Friday night, the bride and groom plan on taking an Uber into Casco and dancing the night away.
Restaurant and rooftop bar in Casco Viejo. The music here varies, so check out their website to see what's going on that day.
Cute rooftop bar in Casco Viejo!
