The first time we met was inside of a teepee at Kanakuk Kamps in the summer of 2015. We ran into each other when I was struggling to haul one of Chase's camper's luggage back to their teepee. I awkwardly handed Chase the trunk and didn't see him again for over a year. Fast forward a year and a book recommendation, a visit to Madewell, and a trip to Chickfila with Chase in the backseat of my Jeep all resulted in a date.
Chase proposed when I was home for Thanksgiving break. He planned a full day with me, which is not abnormal. We spent the entire day doing DIY projects and dancing around his house to Leon Bridges. That night, he took me to my favorite restaurant in Oklahoma City and then we walked around the downtown Christmas festival and drank fancy hot chocolate. We then went back to his house, because he promised to let me set up the Christmas tree even though it was a "little early." When we got there, he led me into the backyard; our dads strung lights on the fence when we were at dinner and there were candles everywhere. He walked me over, sat me down, and at that point I blacked out. I don't remember anything he said (he filled me in later), but I did say yes and he slipped a ring on my finger. We went inside to some of our closest family and friends. I felt so much love from Chase and we felt so much love from our loved ones.
