Chase and Jocelyn met at Lake Anna on Memorial Day weekend 2020. They realized they lived just a few miles apart in Richmond, Virginia, and through mutual friends, their lives began to intertwine with one another. It did not take long for Chase and Jocelyn to discover they had a lot in common. Their initial connection blossomed into a friendship, but as time went on, they slowly began to see they had something much more than just friendship!
March 7, 2021 Chase and Jocelyn officially became a couple! Their very first date they stopped at Chiocca's, a quaint sandwich shop nestled in the Museum District and then walked to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) to enjoy their sandwiches, good weather, and ironically, a proposal. Although a portion of their relationship was long distance because of school, when they had weekends and breaks, they would take advantage of the time they had together and loved taking turns planning fun new dates. Their favorite things to do together when dating consisted of trying different coffee shops wherever they were, cooking together, and playing tennis or pickleball. Now that they are done with school and no longer long distance not much has changed, they still enjoy doing anything that means spending quality time with one another.
Chase proposed to Jocelyn at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA). On their first date when they witnessed the proposal there, Chase said he could never propose there because of all the people that would be watching. However, given how special of a place it became to them through the duration of their relationship Chase knew it needed to be there. The Planning: With the blessing of Jocelyn’s parents, Chase put the plan in action. He developed “Engagement Team 6” (ET6), a special operations team consisting of her sister, Michaela Miller, and some of her best friends, Holli Pearman, Gabrielle Blystone, and Kelleen Futrell to assist him in executing the plan. ET6 planned a "girls day" beginning with lunch at the VMFA, little did Jocelyn know what, or who, was waiting for her. How it Happened: When Jocelyn arrived at the VMFA, she saw Chase walk out from behind a tree holding a bouquet of flowers. She thought he was in Lynchburg studying for an important test but when she saw him suddenly everything clicked, and she realized why he was there and what was about to happen. She was in utter shock to say the least because the first thing she said to Chase was “What are you doing here? You’re supposed to be studying”. He then grabbed her hand, got down on a knee, and asked her to marry him! It was one of the best days of their lives.
