The Wedding Website of Charlotte Hanson and Tor Sather
Thank you for making the journey to join us! Please note that our wedding is being held in Kingston (our hometown on the Kitsap Peninsula), which means that our out-of-town guests flying in or driving from the east side of the state will either take a ferry or drive around the Puget Sound. Please see below for information on travel recommendations including lodging and our ferry system. For out-of-town guests, we strongly recommend staying on the Kistap Peninsula (specifically Kingston or Poulsbo), as the ferry system limits travel to Seattle.

Flight

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SeaTac)

SeaTac is the most convenient airport for both domestic and international flights. Most major rental car companies are located right at the airport for easy pick-up. From SeaTac, you can reach the Kitsap Peninsula by ferry and driving—see the sections below for details. For your return trip, SeaTac offers a free “Spot Saver” service to help reduce TSA wait times. You can reserve a TSA time with Spot Saver by clicking "View" below.

Travel Note

Coming from SeaTac with a car?

1. After arriving at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SeaTac), pick up your rental car. 2. Drive around the Puget Sound (see our travel note "Driving Around the Sound - No Ferry"). 3 After the wedding events, take the same route back to SeaTac airport.

Travel Note

Coming from SeaTac without a car?

1. After arriving at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SeaTac), arrange transportation to the Seattle Ferry Terminal. Options include ride-share, taxi, or Link Light Rail. We recommend the Link Light Rail for its cost-savings and convenience (see our travel note "Link Light Rail - SeaTac Airport to Downtown Seattle"). 2. Take the Kingston Fast Ferry route (see our travel note "Kingston Fast Ferry"). 3. Arrange transportation to Heronswood or lodging via rideshare, taxi, or pre-arranged pickup. The drive from the Kingston Ferry Terminal to Heronswood Garden is ~10 minutes. 4. After the wedding events, to get back to SeaTac on Mon-Sat, you can catch the Kingston Fast Ferry (see our travel note "Kingston Fast Ferry"). 5. After the wedding events, to get back to SeaTac on a Sunday, catch the Bainbridge Ferry (see our travel note "Seattle-Bainbridge Island Ferry"). Please be advised the Bainbridge Ferry Terminal is a ~35 minute drive from Heronswood Garden. 6. After arriving in Seattle from the ferry, take the Link Light Rail (or alternate transportation like rideshare) back to SeaTac.

Travel Note

Driving from I-90 or south of Seattle?

1. Drive around the Puget Sound (see our travel note "Driving Around the Sound - No Ferry"). 2. After the wedding events, take the same route back to SeaTac airport.

Travel Note

Driving from north of Seattle?

1. Take the Edmonds–Kingston Ferry (see our travel note "Edmonds–Kingston Ferry"). 2. After the wedding events, take the same route back.

Train

Link Light Rail - SeaTac Airport to Downtown Seattle

If you’re flying into Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SeaTac), the Link Light Rail is a cost-effective and convenient option to reach downtown Seattle and the Seattle Ferry Terminal. From the airport, follow the signs to the Link Light Rail station, then take the 1 Line toward Lynnwood City Center. Exit at Pioneer Square in downtown Seattle. From there, it's a short walk (~10 minutes) to the ferry terminals.

Travel Note

Kingston Fast Ferry

For guests traveling without a car from SeaTac or downtown Seattle, the Kingston Passenger Fast Ferry is a convenient walk-on option, but with a limited schedule. Please be advised this ferry route does not run on Sundays, and has fewer sailing times than other ferry routes in the area (you can view the sailing times below by clicking "View"). The crossing takes about 40 minutes and offers lovely views along the way. This ferry does not carry vehicles, so transportation from the Kingston terminal to Heronswood Garden will be needed via rideshare, taxi, or pre-arranged pickup. Please plan to arrive about 20 minutes early to the ferry and aim for a boat 2–3 sailings before the ceremony. If you arrive early to the Kingston area, you’re welcome to explore nearby spots listed in the "Things to Do" tab or wander the gardens of our venue (with welcome drinks starting at 3 p.m.).

Travel Note

Edmonds–Kingston Ferry

For guests traveling from north of the Seattle area, the Edmonds–Kingston Ferry is a beautiful and convenient way to reach Kingston. The crossing takes about 30 minutes and runs regularly throughout the day. Vehicle wait times are common—especially on summer weekends—so please plan ahead (waits of 1–2 hours are possible). Walk-on passengers should arrive about 20 minutes early to purchase tickets and board. We recommend aiming for a ferry 2–3 sailings before the ceremony if you're traveling the day-of to ensure ample travel time. If you arrive early to the Kingston area, you’re welcome to explore nearby spots listed in the "Things to Do" tab or wander the gardens of our venue (with welcome drinks starting at 3 p.m.).

Travel Note

Seattle-Bainbridge Island Ferry

The Seattle–Bainbridge Island Ferry offers another scenic option across the Puget Sound, with more sailing times than the Kingston Fast Ferry. The crossing takes ~35 minutes and runs frequently, though vehicle wait times can be longer on summer weekends if you are traveling with a car. Walk-on passengers should arrive about 20 minutes early to purchase tickets and board. The drive from Bainbridge Island to Heronswood Garden is ~35 minutes. If you arrive early to the Kingston area, you’re welcome to explore nearby spots listed in the "Things to Do" tab or wander the gardens of our venue (with welcome drinks starting at 3 p.m.).

Travel Note

Driving Around the Sound - No Ferry

For guests traveling with a car from SeaTac airport or from south of Seattle, driving around the Puget Sound to reach Kingston is likely the best option. The drive from the Seattle area to Kingston typically takes about 1.5 hours, depending on traffic and your exact starting point. This route follows I‑5, WA-16, and WA‑3 and is our recommended route for travelers with cars because ferries can often have long wait times for cars in the summer. Traffic through the Seattle metro and north toward Kingston can vary, so we recommend checking traffic conditions before you depart. Once you arrive in Kingston, it’s a short drive up to Heronswood Garden. If you arrive early to the Kingston area, you’re welcome to explore nearby spots listed in the "Things to Do" tab or wander the gardens of our venue (with welcome drinks starting at 3 p.m.). Driving back to the Seattle area, please be advised there is a toll in this direction (heading east) for the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, totaling ~$6 (which can be paid with credit card at the toll booth).
