Leo convinced Char (against the advice of some of her friends, and unbeknownst to her employer) to take a month-long trip to Sicily on what was effectively their third date. We ate, drank and explored our way all over the island, and the rest is history. It's a really special place for us, and we hope you'll love it too :)
We've booked exclusive use of Borgo Del Carato for the three nights of our celebrations. The venue is set in 90 hectares of ancient olive groves, orchards, and gardens. All rooms are double occupancy (we can also arrange three and four bed rooms - just let us know), and have been lovingly modernised while retaining their authentic Sicilian features. The venue is relatively rural, and we hope you'll enjoy the quiet of the countryside.
Around an hour's drive from Catania Fontanarossa airport. We would recommend hiring a car, or pooling with other guests. It is possible to arrange a taxi transfer, but given the rural location these are quite spenny.
We're hoping for long, sunny days. Average temperatures for June sit in the mid-high 20s, but there have been storms and heatwaves the last few years, so we'd recommend checking the forecast nearer the time and packing accordingly.
Just yourselves and your holiday essentials. There aren't too many stores around the area, so just make sure you pack everything you need.
Absolutely. Please advise of any dietary requirements when RSVP-ing.
Technically, yes, but Italians don't! The hotel will provide bottled water in the rooms, but we'd recommend stocking up at the supermarket on the way, if possible, so you can keep well hydrated.
Yes, there is a car park, partly shared with dusty donkeys in true rural Sicilian style. Please don't drive into the actual Borgo - the car parking area is just outside the gates.
