Ken and Charlotte met how most people meet during a pandemic in 2020, through a dating app! Ken had just moved to Brooklyn in March, when COVID hit. Charlotte had been living in Brooklyn for almost a decade. She "swiped right" because he had a picture of himself making a flower bouquet. Charlotte imagined him making her flower arrangements and bringing them home, plus he was tall and handsome. Ken "swiped right" because she looked adventurous in a bush of hydrangeas that were larger than him and she was obviously beautiful. They decided to get drinks in their neighborhood and the rest is history.

While living in different states, nothing became more certain than Charlotte and Ken wanting to live the rest of their lives together. During a family filled weekend in December, Ken asked Charlotte to go down to Rockaway Beach to replace a recently lost ski cap, and take Clover, their minature dachshund, on a nice walk. Rockaway always brought Charlotte and Ken happiness from moments they shared with both family and friends. It’s a special place for the two of them and they would often go there on the weekends. Ken felt comfortable unveiling his true feelings here as he did before when he asked her to be in a relationship and told her he loved her. However, as Ken should have expected nothing would go that smoothly starting with Locals Collective being sold out of the ski caps. So they persevered on. This was when Clover had other plans for their romantic walk along the beach and got an “upset stomach.” With constant interruptions from Clover, Ken’s speech was not going as planned. Charlotte began to grow confused at Ken's repetitive and circling conversation. Finally, he abandoned what he was saying, got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. The moment was memorable with the most perfect sunset, wedding bells from a local church, a man on a moped in a iridescent suit circling them, and of course Charlotte saying YES! Overall, Charlotte and Ken's proposal was just like their journey filled with challenges, comedy and love. Now it is only right that Rockaway continues to be that cherished place as the venue for their wedding. They can’t wait to share this beloved place with all of you!
