Take a boat out to Alcatraz Island
Book tickets well in advance at https://www.nps.gov/alca/planyourvisit/fees.htm This is a fun way to get out on the water and tour the prison on Alcatraz.
Farmer's market on Saturday mornings
We always enjoyed walking the Embarcadero to the Ferry Building. Shops and restaurants in a beautiful building on the waterfront. On Saturdays, there's a great farmers market to walk around here!

Just outside the hotel, jump on the Powell Street Cable Car. Ride this up the hill, and end up at the Buena Vista Cafe near Fisherman's Wharf for a legendary Irish Coffee.
Looking for an urban hike?
Wander through North Beach, San Francisco's "Little Italy" Neighborhood. Weave your way up to Coit Tower for a view of the city with a great effort-to-reward ratio!
Looking for a coastal hike?
The Lands End Trail is on the other end of San Francisco. A beautiful, easy coastal hike. If you're looking for a good starting point, we recommend targeting Point Lobos.
Fun for kids and adults!
The Exploratorium is on the waterfront near the Ferry Building. This is a fun and interactive museum to play around with science, and see some San Francisco fun facts.
Walk or ride a bike across the Golden Gate Bridge
Dying to cross the bridge? Rent a bike from a Blazing Saddles location and ride across it! This can be fun, but if it's cold or windy, maybe reconsider! Bike across the bridge into Sausalito, grab a bite to eat (We like Bar Bocce!), and ride the ferry back!
Beautiful landmark we lived next door to!
We lived next to the Palace of Fine Arts for years. We took many evening strolls here! Spend the day in our old neighborhood for some good food on Chestnut Street, or hang out at the new Tunnel Tops Park to take in a view of the Golden Gate Bridge!
Walk around San Francisco's Golden Gate Park
Many attractions are in San Francisco's version of Central Park. Stop at the California Academy of Sciences, de Young Museum, or go find the Bison who live here!
Oracle Park
The Giants host the Pirates all weekend. If you have time and want to catch a ball game, we highly recommend it! Beautiful ball park with good eats, too!
