The Katy Trail is a 3.5 mile converted rail trail which runs close by the church. It also goes through Highland Park which has the gorgeous Turtle Creek Park. If you’re looking for a place to unwind, the trail and the park are great, safe places to walk or run. You can grab a beer or a bite at the Katy Trail Ice House.
Our (or at least Serena’s) favorite restaurant— New Mexican food with a very fresh flavor profile and an unbelievable cocktail menu. Incredible enchiladas can be had for $13 and prices go up from there. The drive out to Irving (about 18 minutes from the church) is worth it. Their mezcal cocktails are off the chain. Try the carrot and stick cocktail!
Great atmosphere, phenomenal sandwiches. A great place for a quick bite.
Deep Ellum is the neighborhood to hang out in. There’s so much live music, great food, and so many fun bars. We recommend Adair’s Saloon, Revolver Tacos (the octopus is incredible), Ichigoh Ramen Lounge, the Green Room, the Free Man, and many more.
The DSO has wonderful performances. If you’re looking for something Friday or Saturday, check them out.
On Lower Greenville, this is the best place in town to get pastries and coffee on Saturday morning. Try the croissants and kouign-amann. Their breads are all sourdough-based and phenomenal.
Phenomenal cocktails in downtown Dallas.
Dinner at Wolfgang Puck’s at the top of this revolving restaurant is obviously very expensive—but it’s totally worth going for a cocktail and an amazing rotating view of the Dallas Skyline. You will feel very fancy.
Take the trolley downtown! It's free and a lot of fun. These restored cars run on the original tracks. The trolley will drop you off by Klyde Warren Park and the Dallas Museum of Art. It's a great way to get downtown without having to pay for parking.
Suspended over the freeway in the heart of downtown Dallas, Klyde Warren Park is a fun place to spend the afternoon people watching. You can borrow free games, play ping pong, check out the outdoor library, or have a drink at the Southwest Airlines lounge. It’s an ideal place to take kids. The Dallas Museum of Art, which is free, is right across the street as are several other art museums.
It’s free!
This is my (Serena’s) favorite way to spend five hours in Dallas. If you have never been to a Korean spa and are a little adventurous, just know that this is the most relaxation $25 can buy. Get the Groupon, though be aware that’s you have to buy 24 hours in advance
A seriously fun area of town. There are so many great restaurants, shops, and bars that we can’t even begin to recommend them.
Good beer. What more can we say.
Peticolas has a cult following for a reason. Last time I checked, they only distributed to a few bars outside of Dallas. It’s usually packed but is well worth the visit. Their brewery tours are fun if you can grab a spot.
Come here for, gigantic Italian sandwiches. You can get a glass of wine or an espresso while you shop. It's like traveling to Italy!
Great Thai food.
A great place for late-night fancy-tacos.
A great atmosphere and very fancy cocktails.
Rated the best new restaurant in Dallas, Homewood is one block from the church.
Grab a first rate cup of coffee a block from the church before the ceremony.
